Hello,

Since upgrading to the new Skype version, the sounds are really annoying me.

They sound really tacky and I much prefer the old ones - is there a way to get them back without going back to the old version?

Thanks

Go to Sounds in the Options menu and select the classic version of the sounds you wish to change. You need to do this for each sound type unfortunately.

I want to say thanks for the reply to this post about the awful, tacky sounds. I've changed and saved each one back to the classic style and hopefully will again hear the regular rings etc.
Several other people have also mentioned that they don't like the Modern sounds and that the actual quality of the sound is awful. I have an excellent sound system/speakers but nothing makes them sound good.
The other issue I have is that there are only two options - mute all or have them all on. It would be good to be able to choose which sounds are muted and which are on. Apart from that, as a long time user of Skype (started when there were only 8 million downloads) it is a fantastic product that I use daily. bigsmile.png Cazz

Hi Caz,

You can!

Underneath the sound option it has a tick box for 'play sound' - just untick that for the ones that you don't want a sound for!

Hope this helps.

Simo,
Thanks so much. Have done that OK.
A couple of comments on the options. Firstly, it would be helpful if Help was an option on the SKYPE window, or on the Options window so users know how to do these little tweaks without having to go to the user forum. I think that many users just won;t do that and won't therefore know how to set up Skype correctly. The other thing is that this seems to be an awkward way to change the sound options. The step to change each sound to Classic, for example where one has to click the arrow, go to the specific sound and click on that then save. Then one opens the window and starts again, and again and again. Something like the ability to select any or all the Classic, or modern sounds by holding down CTRL then SAVE once only would be far more efficient. Don't know if something like this can be done but I;ll put it forward for consideration.
