I run Skype on an Ipaq 2750 with WM 5. All works fine on WiFi, but when I put the device in the cradle Activesync takes over and I'll get "PC connection" that won't work with Skype. I can't connect properly, though surf, mail etc. works fine.

Is there something I need to do to make it work? I did a search but couldn't find anything useful.

heya! i believe you should first check if firewalls are installed on you host computer. or proxies. there are some port limitations to skype. I sometimes use my hx4700 over wi-fi and forget to turn it off when I cradle it (same AS 4.x). obviously it cracks. You have to make sure the ipaq gets only one internet feed! hope this helps. greetz

The thing is that I'm able to run Skype without any problem on the host computer itself. I also double checked that the MS firewall is off. This is on my home network so there are no proxies. Could Activesync 4.x be blocking certain ports?

If I remember it correctly I have been able to use Skype when the device was cradled with this host computer before. Though it was with a former version of Activesync, former version of Skype and PPC 2003SE. So it's hard to put the finger on what's changed since then.

hmm.. dunno what to say. unfortunatelly at this time i have AS v.3.8 to play with and no time to test your setup. Maybe if I go to sleep late... smile.png

Well, if you have the time some day to test, it would be highly appreciated!

When I used activesync 3.71, I could actually sync over wifi. I upgraded to version 4.1 to solve some other issues and learned that version 4 or later does not allow sync over wifi. They had some problems with network connectivity and wireless syncing and I believe this may have impacted your syncing in the cradle and simultaneous access to skype. You should contact Microsoft about Activesync 4.x and using the wireless network while in the cradle.
