I had a similar issue with one of the companies I work for. The Internet was down due to a problem with the server. But not only the Internet, we could not log in to the local server either. Though Skype was still running and we used it to communicate to get the server up and running again.

Skype is also really amazing in my case when often I could not join a mobile phone in Cairo (we are using a satellite dish for all communications Internet and Phones :roll: ) and when it happens that I can reach using a phone line the communications are much worse than Skype. It was a nuisance to use the phone but Skype was not helping by limiting options to pay for continued services. Now it is back to Skype and more pleasant communications !
