While trying to install 2.8, the warning shows "don't have permission to access some items". Does anyone know
what those items are? I stop the process and then get this annoying red dot on my Skype icon telling me
I should update. Trying again doesn't help nor can I get rid of the notice.

I'm in the same boat. FAQ's and other help topics don't reveal anything. If you get an answer let me know.

You might try repairing permissions in Disk Utility to see if things straighten out. I hope that works for you both.

Just tried that. Unfortunately, It didn't work. Still get the same message that I do not have sufficient privileges.

I thought I would chime in to say that I am having the same problem. It is exactly why I am here...to find the answer.
