Hi,
I could not find any way to contact Skype, so I am posting this, to make people aware, and perhaps Skype, of a possible problem with the credit card security.

I charged only one item to my credit card this month, as I generally don't use my card. On seventh of Sept. the payment was made (recorded in the card bill) and on the eigth of September the credit card began being charged by several Wal-Marts in Maryland. I live in Germany...... and am not visiing the States.

On one day there were 65 charges made, and through the rest of the month over 100 charges. There are no other legitimate (my) purchases on the card, as I did not make any.

The thought lies very near that there is a connection between the Skype payment and the hijacking of my card number.

I have a good firewall, and the house PC system is behind a router. My virus software is Symantec, and always up to date. I use Mozilla and have various script checkers and such, so I am not surfing "naked". I don't really think I have spyware on my 'puter as I regulary scan the machine as well as having the virus software in place. And I always doublecheck the various addresses to prevent typos putting me on a spoof site.

I don't know where the scammers got my info from, if they hijacked it while it waas underway between me and Skype, of if they filched it from the Skype databases. Or if they might have gotten is some other way.... the nearness of the one payment and the immeadiate usage does point to there being a connection to the one payment on that card, tho.

The card is now blocked, and I have to deal with the bank, because it was several thousand euros damage, but I think it will be solved.

On the net, be aware, be careful..... I hope this is the first and last time I have card problems because of an internet transaction.
