Sometimes I want to hang up the phone with a loud abrupt angry slam — like we can do using a normal physical phone. You just drop that handset onto the hook real hard and fast. Needless to say, Skype's on-screen "hang up" button is rather silent wimpy and invariable. The question here is *HOW* if possible, not why or who or when or for what reason. Everybody has an angry moment now and then... or want to appear that way...

So is there a way to mimic this sound of "slamming the phone hanging up" for the benefit of the person at the other end?

Haha, good question KCO. I would say create a sound file (or find one) that you can play over your mic real quick and hit the disconnect right after. Though, I do wish they would let you edit the hang up sound on the other end. That would be brilliant!
