Just seen this on www.Skypejournal.com

Just one click on this “Share” icon in a Skype Chat Window and all your Conference Call participants are invited to share an application or a presentation you deliver off your desktop —think PowerPoint, Spreadsheet, Word Document.
Just one click on this “Share” icon invites your Conference Call Participants to control your desktop —think remote help (delivering or receiving) or real time collaboration on any project … let your imagination fly.

Exactly what "control" means I'm not sure. In Festoon the share desktop only allows you to look at it, not control it.

The plug-in claims it's Skype-certified, adds an icon to Skype's GUI...
Skype changed their EULA?
wickham43_
Unyte also allows someone to repair a family, friend or colleague's computer remotely so it must be a variation of WIN XP's remote assistance facility.

It may be useful to help edit a document but could also be dangerous to allow someone control.
pkoe_
Like PC Anywhere. Remote control is off by default and can be activated with every invitation.
The plug-in beta works, although with noticeable delay, but appears to have problems passing our firewall. While I was able to edit a file in a remote contact's Word session, it did not work the other way around, i.e. the Unyte connection timed out.
Nice little tool, something to watch as it develops, if it does.

Hey pkoe!

I doubt the EULA has been changed.

I think Skype finally woke up. If Skype wants good, seamless 3 rd party integration they needed to open up they UI.

Regards,

Bill

Click on the icon in the taks bar -> Help -> Getting Started.

And yes, it works.

My only problem is that I can not get it working with Skype Account no. 2 when logged on to Windows with two Skype Accounts.

I used the excellent Feedback option for more info on this.
I keep you updated.
Hilariof have you got javascript enabled?
Yes I think so.At least when I select , Tools on firefox I can see JAVASCRIPT CONSOLE !!

But both users must have java script??

hilario.

hilariof,

You need javascript enabled on both sides.
What happens when you click the invite link, does it open in a browser?
If not, can you cut/paste the link into a browser?
(You will also need Java on the viewer side).

paraveterinary,

We have not tested with two instances of Skype running, we are
going to check that out now and see how we can handle it.

Tks bill for yr prompt replies.
What about firewalls ?? I'm behind a router firewall, do I have to open any ports ??
Rgds.hilario.
BillScoville_
Firewalls should not be an issue, we only use outbound Port 443 (https) which should be open. We do not currently use inbound ports.

This is a blog from Unyte creators http://webdialogs.blogspot.com/ if you want to learn more about it

hi bill:

Yes the problem is javascript.

My contact clicks on the link and nothing happens.

I thought all brownsers had java script !!! what about IE ??It has no javascript ??

If not ,how can we install ??

rgds.hilario.
BillScoville_
IE should have javascript, but it may be disabled.

Have them bring up internet settings:

open the menu item "tools/internet options"
click on security
click on internet
click on custom level
scroll towards the bottom, there is an entry called "scripting"
with sub items "Active Scripting" and "Scripting of java applets"
these should both be enable or prompt
Fortra
Well I've tried it and it works quite well it's a nice add-on for skype it could be very useful tool though.

hello hilariof,

You can have a read thru their online instruction help link below smile.png

hilario,

Glad you got it working, was it the scripting or something else?

As far as sharing other apps, the selection window lets you select
any app that is running. To share another application, just start it
up and the selection window should add it.

Alternatively you could share the entire desktop and then any
appplication you start will be shared.

Thanks again bill for yr kind assistance.

In fact I had already found the way it works.
When we start an application it shows automatically on the list.Great.
Concerning the unsuccessful tests this was because my partner had not javascript enabled.
Great application indeed.
I think it can be very usefull even for business.

I've just tried this program and I am really, really disappointed. It does not work at all. The invited person has to wait for a very long time before the application viewer starts in his browser, and when it does, it immediately dies.

In short, unyte does not work at ALL for me.
Paraveterinary
Garton,

Please do not double post, I replied to you here -> http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?p=212316#212316
