Happy New Year! I predict that Skype will reach a Billion users in 2006. Of course not all will be online simultaneously. My prediction is for a steady 100 million users constantly signed in and online by the end of the year. Once we reach 1 Billion users I predict that Skype will begin to built a wireless network in outer space. I am never wrong.

Happy New Year to all Skypers and non-Skypers!

May they all communicate together.

Concerning predictions: i predict that Skype will continue to grow, but not as fast as we expected it one year ago: competitors are doing whatever they can to lower their rates (PSTN) or providing similar services!

I predict that there will be some entertaining comments at the end of 2006 when the current range of predictions are reviewed and measured.

I also predict that people will continue to do what they have always done and build their network of friendships through communication - and long may it continue.

I predict that the passionate followers of Skype and SIP based solutions shall continue to post their arguments that their tool is better than the other tools as the followers of Microsoft Windows and Unix have been doing for years.

I finally predict that the vast majority of users will just continue to ignore the posts and just use Skype, VoipBuster, GoogleTalk, Gizmo etc. as a tool and concentrate on the content - after all, making it easier and cheaper to communicate is what they are all about.

Did anyone notice the jump in downloads at Christmastime? I appears that quite a few people gave Skype for Christmas (perhaps headphones or credits). The virus continues!

What a globe to live on. cool.png

(the last dot on the graph below is the number of downloads, today, 20 minutes ago). :?:
On the contrary, i have a feeling that the growth is slowing down!

Not ment to be an argument pro et contra on the subject, but the resolution in that graph makes it hard to suggest anything about downloads the last week of the year. To me it seems that a dot could cover 5 million!

Not Jean's dots.

If there had been on ar around Christmass a jump, the straight line would not have been straight anymore!

Hmm. I thought I had noticed a spike in the 48 hours or so right after Christmas..... let's blame it on the turkey and the egg nog.
