I am new to Skype and just installed it on my Iphone. How can I remain signed in to receive phone calls or chat messages. I thought that once I was signed in even if my phone went to the sleep mode I would still be able to receive calls but that's not the case. So my question is how can you remain signed in to receive calls when you don't know when someone will call you exactly? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious or Skype wouldn't be much of a hype. smile.png

Go to Setting, and click on Skype. Turn on "Stay Online" (When Device is Locked)

i can't remain signed in even though i have chosen "ON" in the stay online when device is locked in setting. everytime i return to skype after the device is locked, i see "connecting" and my status change to online (from offline) after a short while. my skype is 1.2.2 and iphone fw is 3.01 on a 3G 16GB. anyone has the same problem out there ? anyone has a solution for this as well... ur help will be very much appreciated !!

btw, i live in canada and i can only connect via wifi (not 3G)...

I have the same problem. I used to be online all the time on my iphone 3gs on skype even if my device is locked. I did two new things, updated the skype with newer version available and bought an online number which came with voice mail. Now whenever my phone is locked (the sky application is on and running) i appear offline to my contacts and all the calls go to voice mail.

In the settings i have clicked , keep skype turned on if the device is locked. I think its a bug in the software which should be removed immediately. Is there any way to contact Skype and tell them about this bug?

It's because WiFi turns off to save battery when the phone goes to sleep. It would be nice to have an override on this.

There appears to be a bug, as Ali2k describes above. The Stay Online won't work consistently if there is an active Online Number / Voicemail. We'll fix it for the next release.
