and i thought it was the coolest thing in the world

Then i got hold of gizmo and tried it out for that matter i also tried out jajah but uninstalled it!!

why gizmo?

You dont need a pc just a ata adapter and it will do the job

gizmo-in is free if u use the access numbers provided but u need to enter ur account number as an extention!! but they r rollin out free personal gizmo-in numbers in jan!! access numbers from us uk can aus argentina spain

call other unblocked voip accounts includin commercial voip companys for free!!

u can use any third party softphone!! and it will work with even works with windows messgenger

the quality is almost the same!! they use same codec

callin out rate is only 1cent/min in the us they appare4ntly get it on wholesale for 1/2cent/min still make 100% profit

So you have access to 400 compines (sic) with sip. Pray tell, what are their names? Vonage uses SIP but it is locked as is SunRocket et al. SIP is nothing, just a protocol. When you understand that Skype owns the market we may let you use Skype again. Of course we may not.

yes go thru the white pages and u will find the sip codes for most major networks!!

i agree some r blocked but majaority r open and u use the code followed by the phone number!!

You cannot call Skype users. Skype is proprietary. Since everyone is on Skype, except a few misguided individuals, you are forced to remain ensconced in a small cloistered world, waiting for a phone which never rings.

Gizmo is a nice product, and its US POTS rate is hard to beat (1 cent per minute), but I still loathe its UI and lack of encryption.

How much screen real estate does Gizmo need to take up to make a phone call? It's horrid. You just can't hide that stupid "call drawer". Yeah, there is a "compact view", but it has limited functionality. Skype works beautifully without the need for a drawer.

And I absolutely, in this day and age, cannot fathom why decent encryption is not implemented in each and every piece of communication software. It's not exactly difficult to implement, it's not horribly processor intensive, and there's plenty the average person transfers online that SHOULD be protected from interception.

If Skype could lower their US rate to $0.01/min, I would have absolutely nothing to complain about. $0.02/min isn't bad though

Skype isn't the best deal BY FAR ... with Skype i'm limited to calling other skype users which is totally useless as most people i know don't leave their machine plugged in and turned on at home all the time simply to use Skype.

But there r better solutions to what u want
but customer support is lackin

The biggest problem is gettin phone number in ur location>in the us its easy to get phone numbers for most areas

but u can get free calls to most of eu and us and can for free with sipdiscount!! totally free they work great with broadband however i had someone in other country call me using dailup it was totally messed up

sipdiscount doesnt need a pc but u can also use pc if u want!!!

gizmo can also be used without pc but the customer service isnt there sicne its all free stuff!!!
