I have skype on my iPhone. Just 3g not 3gs. I have a subscription that includes voicemail and when I pull up skype app it says voicemail is active. How do I personalize it? The site says to pull up tools or settings or someting but there is nothing like that anywhere in my skype app. PLEASE someone help me. Thanks Russ.

I have the same problem. did you ever find out???

I also have this same question, how do you personalize this?
renecalvo
You have to open the SKYPE APPLICATION. I had the same problem. I was looking at the website and could not find the preferences tab. Open the downloaded application. Open the SKYPE pull down menu (first tab). Open PREFERENCES. Open CALLS (green button with phone icon). You will see the record feature there.

I am not seeing this, is the Skype Application on the Iphone itself or on the Windows. I am trying to figure out how to do it from my Iphone, I do not have a microphone to do it via windows.

I too am having the same issue. I've seen 2 different instructions on how to personalize your voicemail, but see nothing on my mobile phone or online that is anywhere near to what the instructions say. One set of instructions read: Open up Skype > Click Tools on menu > Options > Calls > Voicemail. The other instructions I found reads: Click Skype > Preferences > Calls. The problem is I cannot find either on the site or on my iPhone, and there is nothing in Techinical Support that can walk you through it.

Please help!

Hi renecalvo, I'm looking at your post dated Oct. 7th. Per your instruction I opened the Skype app on my iPhone but I don't see a pull down menu as you describe. When I click on my Skype app it takes me to my Sign In page where I have to enter my Skype Name and Password. Once signed in, I see at the bottom of the page Contacts > Chats > Call > History > My Info. Which one should I be in to proceed with your instruction? If anyone can answer that would be helpful.

There is no access via the current iphone/itouch app (11/09). You have to log in to a SKYPE app that is resident on a laptop or desktop computer. Follow the instructions I provided in my previous post. Once you have it configured it will work whenever somebody tries to reach you. The interface you use to retrieve the message is irrelevant. You may have A Skype app with your logon active on more than one device simultaneously. Make sure every app that is open with your logon has the radio box "send unanswered calls to Voicemail" checked.

Thank you renecalvo! I also found this post on: http://tekkie.flashbit.net/iphone/how-to-s...email-on-iphone. It gives instructions on how to setup Skype voicemail on iPhones. Hopefully this will help others with the same problem.

To set up Skype Voicemail on iPhone you need to set up Skype To Go for your mobile. Sign in to your Skype account on the web and follow the instructions on how to do that. Once Skype To Go is set up, there’s a classic way to get the voicemail working on iPhone:

1.Write down your Skype To Go number
2.Open your iPhone and click on the green Phone icon
3.Click on the Keypad tab
4.Type in the code *5005*86*NNNNNNNN# where N represents your Skype To Go number
5.Hit Call
6.Your Skype Voicemail is now set. Every time you tap on the Voicemail tab it goes straight to your Skype Voicemail, or, if there are no voicemail messages, it takes you directly to your Skype To Go speed dials.

Wow, that Skype To Go method is really elaborate!

Just to personalize the voice mail message, there is currently no UI implementation on the iPhone. The workaround would be to log in on a desktop Skype client and record your message there. If you need to change it often, this obviously becomes a chore.

We will add the recording voicemail functionality to the iPhone client in the future.

We also need the Ipod touch to RING after it has gone to sleep or while using another app.
Tero Hurskainen
Rene, for it to ring there is a Stay Online setting in app settings. It is a bit buggy though.

Using the app simultaneously with other apps is not possible - the iPhone OS does not allow background operation of third party apps.
renecalvo
Yes. I have that on but it almost never works. Sometimes it does. I tried Nimbuzz and have had no luck with that either. But I am confident that the engineers are working on this. Thanks for your help.

Tero Hurskainen, thanks for the info! Based on your reply, I would basically need to have a mic on my computer in order to record a personalized voicemail message, right? If that is not available, then personalizing it is not an option? Just trying to get some information. I ended up cancelling my subscription because I couldn't find any of what what being described in this post online or on my phone. If the service works well, I'm willing to resubscribe.

Yes you would need a computer with a microphone. Remember: you can connect to your account from any Skype App on any computer.

Thank you renecalvo! That would explain why I was so frustrated blush.png This post was certainly most helpful.

Thanks again!
