Hi,

I dont know why many people can not get skyped to work in Linux, for me it runs very well

Dist. tested: mine one based on slackware 9.x kernel 2.6.5-mjb2, alsa using oss emulation;
celeron 600Mz ; intel 810 sound card. Dial up 56K Lucent modem

Talked to
1. A window based Skype using adsl, short distance. very good.
2. A window based using adsl far distance, ; good
3. A debian woody box, pentium3 600Mh, sound intel810 card, far distance, dialup. Using the same kernel / alsa as mine. Still very good result.

Good result means sound quality is very good, short latency. I have used many other VoIP programm before and none could be comparable. (openH323, speakfreely, gphone, RAT)

The only problem is, when register, skype doesn't have good error message response back to user if the name has already taken.

Keep up a good work and best luck.
