Hi,

i have installed 2 sound cards.
One on board and one Logitech USB headset.

With /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp1 i can hear something on the headset but
on skype i can“t hear anything on the headset (configured /dev/dsp1 on calls).
But the mic works with that configuration.
If i set up /dev/dsp on skype on calls i can hear the voice on echo123 but the mic dont works on this configuration.

I use Gentoo linux and alsa with oss emulation and kde.

I hope someone can help me with this problem.

If you use Kernel 2.6.14 with Alsa 1.0.10rc1 then the Problem is in the ALSA USB Sound module.

either update Alsa to 1.0.10 or use a newer Kernel 2.5.15rc?

Or switch back to an older Kernel.

There was a thread in here, where I posted the link to the als website, where the problem is described.

cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.10rc1 (Mon Sep 12 08:13:09 2005 UTC).

amixer --ver
amixer version 1.0.10

uname -r
2.6.14-gentoo-r2

and i think the modul works becaus i hear someting with cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp1
and with cat /dev/dsp1 i see output if i speak in the micro. (and it works at the same time)
But in skype i can't hear anything but the micro works.
Is any settings needed in arts for 2 sound cards (soundcard and a headset)?

The Version of Alsa in your kernel has a Bug in the Module that supports your USB Headset.

It is known and already fixed. The next kernel release will have the fix included.

By now, you can either use the alsa Patch to get a newer alsa in your kernel or wait.
