Has anybody tried skype 2.0.0 under wine? I get errors about missing files.

Don't even try. If Skype 1.x doesn't work on WINE, 2.0 surely won't.

Skype 2.0 started for me in Wine and I was able to login and connect but the gui was all over the place.

Believe it or not, I was not just able to login but to do some conversations through the Skype 2 beta using wine. Howhever it crashes oftenly, especially during conversations. Here is what I see in the console after crash:
...
fixme:bitblt:X11DRV_BitBlt potential optimization - client-side DIB copy
fixme:bitblt:X11DRV_BitBlt potential optimization - client-side DIB copy
err:seh:EXC_DefaultHandling Exception frame is not in stack limits => unable to dispatch exception.

I'd really love to use Skype. But for Linux it's mission impossible. On my SUSE 10 64 bit, I have constant problems - after few minutes or seconds I began to here only noise (the other site hears me at that time, so I ask the to hang-up and call me again; if I hang-up then will have to restart Skype because of the BUG with Unable to access sound device!)
I really hope that soon there will be full featured recent enough alsa enabled version of skype.

Just to add - a few minutes ago I was able to have a conversation with skype2beta through wine lasting 9 minutes. Before that I had a few crashes on 4-5 minutes long conversations.
