?Hi,
Is there any way to prevent current skype call from termination by incoming regular phone call? The best thing would be to be able to recognize this event by a special tone and either to put skype call on hold and answer this incoming call or a to just ignore it.
Best Regards, Dmitry

We would love to, but no. That is how the iPhone OS works.

It's worse: Any iPhone notification appears to terminate a Skype call. This includes an iCal notification, a push notification from AIM. This is quite inconvenient!

That is how the iPhone OS works. Any activity in a "native" app will interrupt any activity of a "third party" app.

Actually, there IS a way to avoid this most annoying event. Go into airplane mode, and then toggle on wifi. (Yes, you can do this. You now have an iTouch with a microphone.)

You will still be cut off by a low battery warning, for instance.

Also if you go into "plane mode" you will still get push notifications. I tried that...
Is there any chance of Apple every "fixing" this?

Strangely enough, but at the moment skype calls
are not terminated by the regular phone call

I'm using the latest skype from Appstore and the latest Back*****der from Cy*ia

This is a huge issue for Skype for iPhone to be a comfortable platform for making calls from an iPhone. Isn't there a way that Skype could at least prompt the user to turn off whatever features would interrupt the call before calling? I want to use this to make business calls in area where my cell reception isn't good enough to have a conversation (but is still good enough to receive push notifications and call requests).
It would be shocking to me if there weren't some way to make a more convenient workaround for users so we don't have to cross our fingers that we'll be randomly disconnected at any moment. Otherwise, the app is useless as a trusted phone call making platform.

There is currently a bug that some of you here seem to be experiencing. The expected behavior on the current version is that an incoming native Phone app call or any other OS-induced event will pop up a dialogue to choose whether to exit Skype to accommodate the event or not. This should not kill an active Skype call, but currently it does and unfortunately this seems pretty constant for some users.
We're on it.

Tero,
Good to know you are on it; hopefully this can be addressed soon, as I am running into this issue over and over again. . . lowers the usefulness of Skype dramatically for me.

I'm a little late here, but I have a possible solution (it works for me anyway).
What I have done is to forward all calls (simply toggle in 'settings' - then forward to whatever number you like - your Skype number if you have one). Or you can do the old AT&T forward all calls to voicemail (especially since voicemail checking on the iPhone is a download and therefore doesn't use minutes) by dialing *#67# - and then you can turn off the call forwarding by dialing ##002#.
I don't think this will help with the push email, or text message interuptions, but it works for me.

So I guess by "We're on it," Skype means "We're not going to fix it."

No Jensen, by "We're on it" I mean that I have actual people actually working on the problem and providing a fix for your pleasure, to be released when it is appropriate considering the scheduling and prioritizing constraints we work under.

There is a partial workaround. Switching the "Stay Online" in app Settings to ON will at least enable you to dismiss an incoming SMS and OS alerts to return to your held call.
Unfortunately an incoming GSM call will still drop your Skype call even when denied. We remain on it.

This is a fix of sorts, but this flaw is clearly not stated before purchas of service by Skype. Even alarm apps sold on iPhone store note their limitations and the cost $0.99
This work-around at least make the program useful for non-important calls, as calendar push notices still cause issues.

You are correct, we have not covered all the angles on the communication on the limitations of the iPhone OS when considering our extra services - the Skype app itself remains free, as well as its core functionality.
I am sorry for the aggravation caused to you, and I'll see to that our message on this is made clear.

Great app guys! Your hard work is truly noted

...Curious how the OS Alert interruption fix is going. Also, in my imagination; there must be a home brew app for the iPhone (Jailbroken or otherwise) that is a toggle for OS Alerts from iCal, etc. Any programmers taken this matter into their own hands?
