If we assume that it's going to be harder for China to eradicate Skype after it becomes hugely popular, then the time for China to "put up or shut up" must be fast approaching..... 45000 new Chinese Skypers every day.

... or maybe that Verso software doesn't really work

Or maybe they haven't widely implemented the Verso software yet.

You go around firmly stating that the Verso software simple doesn't work, yet I have seen no reason to believe it doesn't. Skype is traffic. Traffic can be analyzed, catalogged, and filtered just like all other kinds of traffic.

you could also look at it the other way around that there weren't enough people using skype to warrent blocking before.

granger: Skype has been all over Chinese media the last few weeks - getting positive feedback. Considering the tight government control on media I seriously doubt Verso will have any major impact in China...

Time will tell.

It may not. But that doesn't necessarily mean that Verso doesn't work. It could mean that it wasn't implemented correctly or fast enough or in the right places.

My post was rebuttal to garnet_stone constantly saying that Verso doesn't work, when there's no proof to support that.

As it is with any software, one can say either that it works or that it doesn't. Clearly, the preponderance of evidence is on the negative side.

You can speculate that it's because of poor implementation, or not implemented fast enough, or not in the right places, or that the Chinese have decided they like Skype, or that the US Government has threatened them, or that eBay has bought them off.... and I can say it's vaporware, or that Skype has designed around the Verso techniques.... or whatever. It doesn't matter what we say because the fact remains that Verso is not working in China.... the place that everyone, you especially, says is Verso's main target.

Verso is a load of marketing c**p. The burden is on them to show otherwise.... in real market conditions.
