Just a comment, but I hope that when Skype moves the beta version to live, people like myself will not have to download the video portion of the program if we are not using video.

In other words, during the install process, there should be an option to NOT install the video portion of Skype if it's not going to be used. I like Skype the way it is and since I don't use video, I see no reason why I should be forced to install all that extra program "stuff" on my system when I won't be using it.

I don't think that will happen. First, the new version with video is only 1,2 Mb larger (in total 8,6mb), the video part of that is hard to say. Secondly, genaral users just want to download skype and don't risk getting the wrong version. Third, with Skype 2 you can see the caller even without a webcam of your own. Fourth, video is an integrated part of the skype application, Skype won't install extra programs or drivers on your system.
