Full Version: Skype crashes when I try to make a video call
Skype Community > English > Windows > Video
tjl84
Whenever I try to make a video call, switch to video during a call or go to video settings in tools / options / general, the programme crashes with the error message "A problem has caused the programm to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available." No notification ever follows. I am using a recently purchased Sony VAIO VGN-Z21WN, Windows Vista and McAfee security. What's wrong?

Uninstall McAffe. Do not just disable it. Just temporarily

Hi, I have a completely different computer - desktop with a standard Logitech webcam, which worked perfectly fine under the previous version of Skype, but not in 4.1 (actually reads 4.1.61.141). I can call and receive voice calls no problem, but as soon as I try to use video Skype crashes. I can't even check it in Tools/Options/Video Settings, because at that point it crashes the program! Same Windows error message as above: "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I will try going back to a previous version if that's possible, or should I try to see if a driver exists for this version of Skype first?

i have the same problem. the video crashing appears to be an issue in sony vaio notebooks. I have a vaoi CS-16G with an integrated webcam and mic. If i go to video call it crashes. if i try to switch to video call it crashes. if i go to tools>general>video it crashes. since options crashes it means its not an internet issue but a software issue. the default webcam is listed as bluetooth. video just doesnt work. the built in webcam is listed as an item in the dropdown menue but windows says the program has stopped working and it will notify me if a solution rises but none ever does. i cant switch to the built in one because it crashes when i go to video options. everything else works. audio calls is good, same with conference. just video. i tried the .dll renaming thing i found in:
