Drivers updated to 2.35 , Win98SE/ME/2000/XP, driverfile pencamvoice-win98-me-2000-xp_vs235.zip.
Operating system Windows 2000 SP4 with rollup.
System AMD XP3200 on AUS-A7N8X-E Deluxe and graca Nvidia 6600GT.

Cam works with it's own application.

aiptek PenCam VGA II not working

Philips ToUcam PCVC720/20 works under winxp (after forcing the win2k drivers)
quality is only so-so, but i guess that has to do more with the ancientness of the thing than it has to do with skype.

n.b. you can only turn on/off the cam in between skype sessions, not during one (the option in the menu doesn't do anything). don't know if that has to do with the cam or the interface.

Using Logithech Quickcam Home (7 years old about!!) Does NOT work with Skype,but works with MSN.The testing option in Skype works with cam though.

The Logitech QuickCam Messenger with the current Logitech drivers does not work with Skype 2. It hangs the machine and the skype.exe process cannot even be killed off. (I tried sysinternals.com processexplorer as well, with no luck on killing the process)

FYI, there are two versions of the Logitech Quickcam Orbit. The original and the "MP" version. I have the original version and I know it works, but I don't know about the MP. You should distinguish between the two on your list perhaps (though both probably work).

The process that is hanging is LVComSXWnd

I can confirm that my Digital Camera (acting as a webcam) works.

Ok, I have seen more people complaining: Firewireconnected devices do not work.
The device is in the Webcam list, but gives a grey screen.

Please specify: You can see the correct moving image in the Webcam test window. Which step of the Skype Video Tutorial [ Link ] fails?

QTEC 100 does not work with skype.
It works properly with yahoo messenger.

Symptoms:
1) OS w2k sp4
2) skype recognizes the device as QTEC and not as default video device randomly
3) when testing the light on the cam lights on and remains on while the test screen is grey
4) Yahoo messengers cannot access the cam after skype exits
5) skype does not recognize the device if you restart it
5) the cam is reset on logoff

Yes the test works fine.I see myself with good quality picture but when I turn off test and go to conference the cam does not come on at all.All options are checked fine.

Maybe I am wrong but I thought the "Beta" version was only 1 on 1 video and not able to be used for video conferenceing yet.

I cannot get my Quickcam Express using driver Version: 8.4.8 build 1034A to work with Skype on W2K. The video screen in the webcam test is light grey with a white border. When I click the Webcam Settings button nothing happens. The camera work ok with yahoo messenger.
Any suggestions?

The Veo Advanced webcam doesn't work w/ 2.0. All that shows in the
test window is a gray box.

I installed the latest driver from Veo's website.

It works fine with Yahoo Messenger. I'm running XP on a brand new Dell.

I use my built in Sony camera with my Vaio PCG which perfectly works -
now I'd like to use video skype wth my Home PC (XP sp2) and therefore need to acquire another webcam (to be quite sensitive in light light ) to use with Video Skype.
I have read the forum with a large list but can someone give me some guidance?

I would certainly take no Creative webcam. Logitech is better, but not known for their good support.

Philips ToUcam PRO II (PCVC840K) is a very good camera, especially under low light conditions.

Icatch camera works fine (can't remember the model, but can find out if someone needs it, however it's a very cheap one -probably about 10-12 $)

Camtel webcam (came installed in lid of 6mth old laptop), c/w USB PC Camera 301P driver (with AMCAP software) & XP Pro.

Works fine with MSN, AIM, YIP. Does not appear to work with Skype. Skype receives signal, but picture is highly pixelated, and compressed into the top half of the viewing area.

Before I go out and buy a new webcam, can anyone suggest a possible replacement driver to the 301P.

EDIT: Have dl'd the SplitCam app, and I can now get a clear picture in Skype test mode.

VGP-VCC1 in Sony Laptop VGN-FJ170 worked fine in Skype for 1 day... hasn't worked for 5 days now... even uninstalled Skype 2.0 then reinstalled and all drivers up to date.... no workie!!!

D/l'd Spontania video4im works fine...

Skype shows the Sony camera in Tools>Options>Video, webcam drop down but video is grey!!!

Creative Webcam 3 with 2.05.05 drivers under W2000 works fine with other applications and appears (twice) on the Skype drop-down list, but give a grey window in the test screen.

My Super Aiptek Pen Cam Trio VGA that I bought when I was living in Germany in 2001 does not want to work. What do I have to do, so that this lazy girl start working with Skype 2 ?

I'm using Logitech QuickCam Web and it doesn't seem to be working. The test window remains "gray" (actually it's beige), and the drop-down menu for cam selection sometimes only shows "windows default device", while sometimes there is the cam listed as well.
The LED on the cam is lit on while working, and its microphone is functional (as it was in version 1), but no video.
Something wrong or could it be this very cam is not supported?

Video with 2.0.0.43 does not work using the Veo Mobile webcam. I have the latest drivers (although somewhat dated - 2002) and XP. When doing the video test, the camera ready light comes on for 10 seconds but there is no video - only a gray window where the camera image should be. This webcam works fine with AIM and MSN.

Suggestions, please?

With my Sanyo Xacti DSC-J4 that only came up as a gray window in Skype...

After installing Splitcam, and selecting Splitcam as the source in Skype, the video came up fine.

If other applications work with your camera fine, and only Skype does not, try installing Splitcam! www.splitcam.com

Hmmm... it appears that splitcam.com gave up their domain name.

However, I found splitcamera.com Is this the freeware you installed?
