FYI
SKYPE had no plans to support videon in W2K. It seems that it works some caseses, but not always. We have seen "many access violations" under W2K. Currently we decided to disable video under W2K because we had no time to get it working properly.

I'm using DR-Hank webcam - http://www.dr-hank.com

The video is very good but the sound is too poor.

This cam has an integrated mic but I have to disable this mic and use a normal microphone instead of this to improve the voice sound.
The Veo Advanced webcam doesn't work w/ 2.0. All that shows in the
test window is a gray box.

I installed the latest driver from Veo's website.

It works fine with Yahoo Messenger. I'm running XP on a brand new Dell.

Please help!
I was able to get this webcam working with the latest beta (2.0.0.63) and the Splitcam driver mentioned in the first post in this thread (www.splitcamera.com). Give that a shot.
davidjmorse_
Intel PC Camera CS331 works perfectly.

As I just mentioned, Veo Advanced Connect only works with SplitCam driver installed and selected as the source in Skype (2.0.0.63).

PANASONIC NV-GS17 (video cam with webcam function) initially did NOT work. But now it WORKS fine after installing splitcam driver. :!:

So if your video camera does not work try to use the splitcam soft. You can get it from:
http://www.splitcamera.com/download.html

My other webcam Labtec worked fine without any problems.

Logitec Orbit MP works fine. Face tracking fine, but you may want to disable autozoom.
ATI WDM Rage Theater Video - does NOT work
Crashes Skype completely and remains crashed in the memory (cannot be killed) - things can be recovered only by restarting the PC.
Tested on WinXP SP2, on an ATi 9200 VIVO graphics card with WDM Capture drivers v.6.14.10.6246.
This must be an ATi driver problem - it used to crash Yahoo Messenger too (the same way), but with other video capture programs (not videoconferencing) worked well.
I had the exact same issue using ATI 8500DV... MSN works fine... more over... I tried using MINI DV Cam (firewire input) same issue...

I have a Logitech Messenger Camera which is listed as working but I have yet to get it working.

It shows a grey window when previewing. Also, sometimes it is not listed in the camera list, especially if I have gone into video options then out again.

I updated my direct X and my camera drivers. I have also tried splitcam, which picks up my camera fine. However, when choosing splitcam in skype, I still get a grey window, as if it is to do with a windows->skype fault rather than a webcam fault.

Again, with splitcam installed, sometimes it only lists default camera as before.

From looking at some forum posts, it seems clear that I am not alone, but people are being shouted down so quickly with splitcam is the answer that they are scared off. I may be wrong though.

hope this is helpful in debugging. The video aspect is not up to skype simplicity standards yet I feel.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the A4tech Viewcam Pro, works well with Skype video. It's best feature is a sliding lens cover and a flexible pedestal design that makes it easy to use. I don't work for A4tech, but these are very cheap cameras about 16$ usd, that work well and include a built-in microphone.

I like the design, the sliding lens cover means I can be sure my camera is off unless I want it on.

here's a link:

or

if you have trouble with the longer link.

Intel CS110 works

(this is i guess a discontinued model, received it in 2001!, although i saw some months ago a webcam in the same "housing", looking really 100% alike, but from another brand. I don't know what was inside the casing, didn't buy it)

Creative Webcam Live Pro works (but you knew this, just to confirm!)

Hi,

I'm using an "Generic Camera" (says 'Gemini' on the stand, but otherwise no branding). The driver says ICatch (VI) PC Camera. It worked. For a while. Can someone else confirm if this camera works?

That's the important part. But if anyone can offer some advice, the sob story is here : http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?p=209546#209546

JVC MiniDV cam GR-D50E does NOT with neither via USB nor Firewire link. Message: Video source fails to deliver stream in correct format.

FYI this cam works fine with MSN and Eyeball Chat !

It would be great to make it work also with SkypeVideo.

Splitcam doesn't help.

Thanks for your answer,
Yes i did two times the test with Splitcam without success.
Then... following your message, i did a third test and... miracle, it works...
I dont know why the first two attempts where not successfull....
As this webcam works alone (without Splitcam) with Netmeeting, why Skype need a third party software ?? may be this will be corrected for the release version...(we are still in beta version for the video part...)
Thanks to all and for the big good job done in SKYPE...bigsmile.png bigsmile.png

Well glad its working. Yes Video is still 'beta' mant improvements are being worked on incl cams that for various reasons do not work directly.

Thanks your input

I use the Labtec Notebook Webcam and the Cam itself is working fine with Windows XP.
http://www.labtec.com/index.cfm/gear/detai...0,contentid=724
I am using driver 6.04.

The problem is that often Skype switches back to 3fps after it ran fine with 10-15fps for a few seconds. And like mentioned in my thread, all the settings are correct and bandwith as well as CPU is enough.

I am trying to use a Canon MV30 as a webcam, but Skype does not recognise it. MSN does!!!

The Aiptek DV 3100 works absolutely fine for me.

Once setup in the 'Video (Beta)' Section of the programmes 'Options' it works a treat. I have mine on all the time so it just starts it automatically as a call is made but I will more than likely have to alternate this On & Off as I don't want all my future customers seeing my mug, especially first thing in a morning

Hope the above helps somebody if they have the same camera.

My $500 Osprey 440 card works with every program except Skype sadsmile.png
Yes, it works with Splitcam but this is not a solution. I don't like the way how Splitcam is working. Skype has to use native capture board driver but not something virtual.

I have a new webcam, Kolke PC Camera 6029 CIF, and it works perfectly well. You can add it to the list of webcams that work with Skype.

Hi everyone,
I want to inform you that my Trust "SpyCam 100" is now perfectly working after the installation of Splitcam bigsmile.png .
Thank you to Gladiator for the suggestion.
Obviously Splitcam must be running when you open the Skype window!

Hi there - I'm pulling my hair out!!
I have XP and the latest driver installed for my TerraCam USB cam - but Skype says its either already in use (which its not) or can't be found.
I tried downloading Split cam but the message says "FindCapture Device ()failed with error code 0x80004005".
In both programs it refers to the aCam in the source windows.
The dratted thing works on everything else.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks
Monique
