There is another program called trackercam, which is freeware.
Installed and run together with Skype, dv-cams work like a charm.
You just have to choose the emulated cam entry in Skype, which is usually

I am using a "smartcam CIF" and it works fine.
I had to experiment a little myself to get used with this new version of skype,but otherwise nothing to complain about this long awaited version

My old Logitech QuickCam Pro does NOT work with Skype Video

[EDIT: I have the old "Logitech QuickCam Pro (with Beige focus ring)" from ~1998. There are no official XP drivers for this camera from Logitech!http://www.logitech.com/lang/images/0/776.gif]

There are no official XP drivers for this webcam ("thanks" Logitech!), but functioning "homemade" drivers can be found on the net.

The webcam works fine with the Video4IM plug-in for Skype.

Viewquest M318B works OK but a bit pixellated and is clearer using Spontania video4im .

If it works better using another video program then there is nothing wrong with the webcam so perhaps Skype can improve their software.

It's old now but good quality - "they don't make them like that anymore".

Aiptek HyperVcam fun does not work!

True - the same with the good old RadioShack Webcam.
The brand new Mustek webcamera really sucks.

Pleas state exactly what "not working" means in practice. Can you select it in the list of video devices in the Skype Video Options? Does the webcam test fail? Does it fail during a call?

Logitech Quickcam for notebooks Pro is working fine too.

The old "Logitech QuickCam Pro (with Beige focus ring)" from ~1998 does not work. I can choose it in the Skype webcam list, but the webcam testwindow stays grey whatever I do.

There are no official Logitech XP drivers for this camera, but I found some "homemade" on the Internet that made it work with Video4IM.

The damage is not so big, as this CMOS webcam really sucks in low-light conditions, but I would really like to try SkypeVideo before investing in a new one - and Logitech's lack of supporting new OS (WindowsXP) has scared me a bit from buying Logitech the next time!

Mustek WCam 300A (PC CAM 300A) - Works

ATI WDM Rage Theater Video - does NOT work
Crashes Skype completely and remains crashed in the memory (cannot be killed) - things can be recovered only by restarting the PC.
Tested on WinXP SP2, on an ATi 9200 VIVO graphics card with WDM Capture drivers v.6.14.10.6246.
This must be an ATi driver problem - it used to crash Yahoo Messenger too (the same way), but with other video capture programs (not videoconferencing) worked well.

Canopus ACEDVIo Video Capture card - does NOT work
This is a FireWire-based analog capture card.
When IEEE 1394 devices will be supported this card will work too.

IBM XVP600 USB camera works
ATI AIW 9700 video capture works
Orange Micro iBot Firewire Camera does NOT work.

The IBot camera works with all other video apps and the Windows camera wizard uses it with no problems. I have seen no evidence that ANY firewire/ IEEE1394/ilink devices work. Has anyone had any sucess with any firewire cameras?

Philips SPC 200NC PC Camera works fine. Lousy quality though...

Really want Video in the Mac OS X version and iSight support.

OK, more detail: I can select the webcam in the Options but the "Test Webcam" Window stays grey.

(Since there are no genuine Aiptek drivers for Windows XP, I use these: http://www.treweeke.com/forum/index.php?bo...did=249;start=0. And they work in every other program (e.g. wigiwigi, Spontania). There is no use in completely removing the drivers and installing again. I even tested the cam on another PC.)

edit: I'm using Windows XP. Maybe it's best if everyone adds his OS. Anyone using Win2k successfully?

I confirm a previous message
- a webcam (NGS Robbie 2.0) works on my Sony Vaio Wxp sp2
- but does not work on my Fujitsu Scaleo Wxp sp2 with ATI WDM Rage Theater Video installed - actually it crashed and I needed to go back to Skype previous version
anyway this Beta version is alredy great and bravo to the Skype team!

Dynamode webcam (one of the older models) wont work for me.
I can see it listed under video options, yet, if it click "Test Webcam", i get a
"Webcam test" window with a gray video placeholder, without any video. When i click the "Webcam settings" button, NOTHING happens.

I am on a win2k system, the cam with it's current drivers works just fine with the following applications:

Spontania + Skype
Camfrog
IVisit
Netmeeting
Microsoft Media Encoder
CapturePad

Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 works.

Try disabling ATI WDM Rage Theater in Device Manager before testing the webcam with Skype. I'm sure it will work that way.

Gladiator...just advising that Logitech QuickCam Chat webcam [$30.00] works. Let everybody know that other party has to have 2.0 installed, even if they don't have a web cam. They can see your transmission, and you can see your thumbnail.

Camera CREATIVE PC-CAM 880 does not work.

Hangs very often for even 7-10 seconds, then works a few seconds and situation repeats.

Tested on the same computer with different webcam (Gsmart mini 3) works without any problem.

it does not work sometime. This webcam is integrated with mic. It work fine with yahoo and MSN. When i use it with skype 1.4, it also has problem, otherside can not hear me sometime after few mintines talk. When i use skype video, it work ok in the first few minitues but after that the skype has error pop up and off.

Although my Sanyo Xacti DSC-J4 works with all my other imaging apps, and msn messenger... it does not work with Skype 2.0

The camera is selectable in the camera menu, but all that I see is a gray window.

Please make this work Skype staff!!
