Full Version: Skype for linux, a better version
Skype Community > English > Skype for Linux
v0n0_
Hi, first of all I want to thank Skype developers for their port for Linux. I know this is not so easy to do for a commercial company that must respect time limits. It's not so perfect, but I think it could improve widely with version 2. So I am asking politely for a Linux beta version of this new Skype, even if without video features, but at least with ALSA support.

Hint: instead of distribution specific packages you could deliver only a .bin package (like Nvidia) and leave packaging work to distribution developers.

PS: to those who can't install the .deb in their Ubuntu Breezy/Dapper or Debian testing/unstable: it's only a matter of repackaging it with dpkg -x, dpkg -e and dpkg-buildpackage. Google around for it and stop jerking.

I agree. We also need to catch up with Windows users and have a second version of Skype. Also, that there are also webcams that now work with Linux, like mine. This would greatly benefit everyone and not just Windows users.
