Skype tells me that there is no Contacts online and all the contacts in my list are gray ( The coulor for being offline i)

But the truth is that all the contacts are online and I can still call them and them can call me ..

Using Fedora Core 2

Anyone else exeriencing this problem?

Thanks..

Yes, but I really don't think this is a Linux-bug issue. I experience this in Windows as well. Sometimes I have to restart Skype in both Windows and Linux(Fedora) before I can see wether my contacts are offline or online.

I have the same problem on Mdk 10, contacts appear to be offline when they are online. Works fine on windows. Tried restarting it several times but doesnt work, in reg user mode and root rights.

I have the same problem (Gentoo 1.4). I added some users but they never got an authorization-request (I think). They were greyed-out as long as Skype was running. Now, having restarted Skype, my contact list is empty again.

Mandrake 10 Final using the static linked binary. Same thing. Contacts don't show online, but sometimes I'll send a priv msg anyways and then all a sudden it shows them online. Also getting that the contacts I try to add never get my authorize request.

All my contacts are shown as offline ... (Using the SuSe 9 rpm's) but all others things work perfect. Thanks for porting Skype to Linux !!!

Guys, when you say "contacts are offline" which icon exactly is it? Is it the grey "x" icon, or grey "?" icon? If question mark, the contacts are actually in "not authorized" status, which means that they haven't given you authorization, and you cannot see their status until they authorize you. Which may of course be related to another bug reported here, that requesting authorization fails, that we'll need to look into.

Same for me (Slackware 9.1)
The "?" grey icon .
Look's like no authorization .

Other things work good.
Was able to start using it without any configurations.

Same for me! Using Slackware 9.1.

My contact list are empty after restart. All my friends are with (?) grey icon.

I receive a authorization from a friend using Skype Linux and they remains in Contact List (even after restart). My friends using Skype Windows don't receive the authorization request.

AS posted in another thread, add the users with the green plus button. That works for me, and the contacs stay in the list.

The question is that contacts in my contact list is not empty, but there is a "?" on each gray icon. "request authorization" doesn't work! I can't call them.I can't send message to them either.but they are on line really!

Skype doesn't save user added to contacts list in ~/.Skype/username/user4096.dbb file,
temporary solution is copy files from windows on linux.

From Skype FAQ:
Can I transfer my contacts from Windows to Linux?
Yes, you can! In Windows, the Skype contacts are located in a directory like "C:Documents and SettingsyournameApplication DataSkypeyourskypename". In Linux, they are in "$HOME/.Skype/yourskypename". You can just transfer the files from Windows to Linux or vice versa. You can also back up your contacts this way.

I have a small home network with a mixture of Mandrake 10.0s and Micro$oft Windows2000s.
It seems that users running Skype (version 0.90.0.14 ) become listed as offline after a period of time... even if they are surely still online.
I even tried to use the Skype-program, but continues to be listed offline on the other computers.

Say machine X and Y are *both* up and running Skype, X being the Linux-box, and Y being a Win2k with a Skype that reports X being offline:
I have descovered only one way to make Y report X online, and is to close and restart Y's Skype (not the whole machine; just the Skype).

I can't tell wether this bug is in the Linux- or the Windows-version.
Maybee both...
