I really need help here. I have only yesterday installed Linux on my PC, and Skype too. Yesterday i didn't use it but already found the first bug.... and now there are more of them, it makes Skype almost completely unusable. To one of the bugs i found a solution here in the forum but it didn't help... read on.
First bug i need help with:
When i select "store password on this computer", Skype always starts when i start the computer. I can't find an option to turn this behaviour OFF other than not saving the password - but then i have to enter password AND user name each time i wish to use it - annoying.
2nd bug:
After entering the phone number, using the keyboard, it doesn't dial when i hit "enter". Instead i have to use the mouse to click "connect". Annoying!!
3rd bug:
While it dials out, i hear no sound at all. In the Windows version there is a sound indicating that the call is connecting. Not so here on Linux. I found a solution to that, have to copy sound files from the "skype" directory to the root folder - however, after 30 minutes of desperately trying to find a "skype folder" i gave up - no such thing in this computer! Where the heck did Skype install..??? This problem is annoying too, but i could live without the sound.
4th bug, MOST ANNOYING!
The first call i make always works. Sometimes even the second. BUT most of the time already the second consecutive call comes immediately with "call failed", no error number. I have to exit Skype and restart it to make that second call! This is unacceptable.
My system is a 800 MHz Pentium 3, 128 MB RAM, SuSe Linux 10.0.0, KDE, Skype version 1.2.0.18. Connected via switch to a 1000 kb/s ADSL line.
It's definitely nothing wrong with the connection, because i can surf the net etc, and Windows (on the same machine) has no such problems with Skype.
Since i am a Linux newbie, please don't suggest any command line stuff for me... i am helpless with that. Thanks in advance.....
