I have a friend who, for a long time now, can kick anyone he's in a call with, even when he's not the call host. Normally I wouldn't care that much but he's recently gone mad with power and is ruining skype for me and my friends. How can he do this and how can I stop it? I'll hold his name unless it's absolutely neccesary.

do you happen to know if your friend is using a Bluetooth enabled device from Broadcom?
because if he is, this is a known issue with 4.1
from the release notes:
"If a participant in a conference call is using a Bluetooth enabled device from Broadcom, the conference call will be terminated when they hang-up the call."

Or if this user originate (started) the chat, he can kick others off.
However if he did NOT start the chat and/or is not the host, it should NOT be possible for him to do it

I know he shouldn't be able to do this, but he CAN
it's called a bug, Adam
please read the release notes
I'm only suggesting that this COULD be the issue here, not that it is

I don't think he's using a bluetooth device, and it's not that the call terminats, it's that he can kick or ban anybody from a call. And no, even on calls where he's never been the host, like if I call a friend and he just randomly joins in, he can kick people. If he's doing something that will get his account terminated, I don't want that because really he is a friend, I just want to know how to stop him when he's in these moods.
Oh and for some reason there are a few select people he can't kick. I don't know why but he can't.

ah yes, you are quite right
I was confusing call termination with the ability to kick participants
so I also owe Adam an apology as he rightly focuses on the kicking aspect
I still seem to recall that this may have been a bug in early 4.x versions, so it really boils down to the specific versions that are in use by each participant
it may be tough to convince your friend to upgrade since he obviously enjoys the power
I think eventually he will WANT to upgrade, however, lest he lose out on other desirable features

That's the thing, we did upgrade and he can still do it. Unless maybe he upgraded long before us and we didn't know it (I don't know how long the most recent version has been out), but I think he could do it on this version and the one before it.
If Skype 4.1 was released July 21st than he has definantly upgraded and can do it on both versions.

what is the 'role' of your friend in the group conversation?
to verify, type /whois [skypename] into the IM window for the group conversation and then 'send message'

He will not have his account terminated. It sounds like a bug. Skype will eventually find it.
It may look like a neat trick, but it could be something which hides a more serious problem, so it would be helpful if your friend could disclose the details. Pass the information via PM to a Moderator or a SuperUser and it can be investigated.

I've learned from someone that right clicking on someone and saying "remove from conversation" does it. I'll have to try it later.

If, the person is a host or master, yes this will work, however, if they are not this will not work.
I have tested this.
My suggestion is to get the role of the person doing this, they cannot be a normal user, they must have been the host, or promoted to a master of the group chat in question.
If you doubt this, add me to this group, give me about 2 minutes, after sending me a message telling me WHO will kick me, and have this person kick me, when I ask to be kicked ;-)

I don't think that will work unless you are the creator/master of the group conversation or have been promoted to a host/helper

Okay, I tried what the guy said and it didn't work. Also I made sure everyone has 4.1 and they did, yet he can still kick us, even the call host.

Please read the post. I also have the same problem with a mate being able to kick even if he has no power in the conversation. This is a bug, so before replying with that arrogant tone I would suggest you think twice. Hopefully Skype will have this problem solved soon.

HI! I have a problem, a friend of mine can KICK anyone in the conference call. He is NOT the host or the creator, he is just a random member. First let's say someone calls me, then we talk and then the person invites another one and then he invites this "KICKER GUY". And then he can kick me, the host ANYONE.
Please tell me how he does this and please tell me how do stop him because it's really annoying when he kicks me. I WANT REVENGE

Cheers

in the scenario that you paint you are not the host
it is that 'someone' that calls you (the one that invites the supposed kicker) that becomes the host of the conference call
