There is absolutely no reason why the Linux version of Skype should not be able to direct the ringing to a different sound card than the voice. Other Linux VOIP clients have this feature. Skype needs to fix this. Without it, Skype is next to useless as a VOIP. What are Linux users to do? Keep their headsets on their heads all day so that they can hear the phone ringing?
I use the free Skype only occasionally for work, but there's no way I will register for SkypeOut or SkypeIn unless this bug is fixed.
Is Skype working on a solution to this very simple problem? When might we see it?
Other than that, Skype is a very nice system.

Couldn't agree more, but most users are even more concerned about the fact than you can't even use separate devices from mic and speakers (making USB webcams really awkward to use).
Hopefully they're working a new linux version now that'll fix all the sound issues.
