Hi there,

I'm using this form of communication since there's been no feedback from skype although I wrote them several times.

I'd appreciate if those of you who made similar experience would join me and get back to skype as well. The issues are the following:

From time to time a "feedback window" pops up after a call's finished. Basically I appreciate that skype is trying to get feedback in order to improve their services, however, the bad thing is: this feedback window uses an active IE window and as a result determines any session which -up to then- had used this particular window. It happened to me several times that online transactions had been aborted by that and quite some work had been done in vain.

This is not only annoying but cheeky as well!

What's even more, the feedback page is not encrypted and transfers confidential information openly through the web. The URL looks like this: service=skypeout&version=1.4.0.84&username=YOUR USERNAME!!!&call_date=DATE&cpu=0&bandwidth=0&a_number=+THE NUMBER YOU CALLED!!!&call_type=outgoing&provider=&status=&result=FINISHED&log_ringing=14&log_answer=17&log_finished=315&pstn_feedback_info=

Who knows what further information is being sent openly through the web...?!?

So please join me to get a statement from skype on this. These are critical issues, however, issues that easily and quickly can be solved if they'd only care...

Thanks,
Joerg

stop using IE its one of the most unsecure browsers out there.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. These are not only IE-related problems. It doesn't matter which browser you're using.

You can change the IE (and Firefox) settings so that it doesn't open on the existing session but opens a new one.

* Mozilla Firefox: Tools > Options > Advanced and select the desired option under the section "Open links from other applications in:".

* Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and untick "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

Thanks a lot, Andres. I changed the settings.

Have you any comments on the security issue? I mean skype cannot possibly send (and thus distribute) confidential information like user name and dialled, private telephone numbers across the web.

joerg.maurer,

I don't know enough about this personally to comment on the security issue, I'll ask around. We certainly respect users security and privacy.
