I have two unassigned skype in numbers (see attachment "AvailableNumbers.jpg") and I am unable to assign them to user via my Business Control Panel (see attachment "CannotAssign.jpg").

Everytime I expand the "Online Numbers" section in the "User Settings" I see a message that says, "You cannot assign online numbers to this member."

I have a total of 15 people in my control panel and I have assigned 13 numbers to them, but I am unable to assign any further numbers to users.

Is there a SkypeIn number assignment limit?

There is a known issue with this, and Skype is working to resolve it, more here:

Yes they fixed it allright! - reply from my support request on this subject:
"As of July 22nd 2009, it is no longer possible to assign online numbers to your Business Control Panel for regular consumer members. New online numbers purchased after July 22nd can only be assigned to business owned accounts created over the Business Control Panel. Business accounts can be created here: https://secure.skype.com/business/manage/addusers under ?Create a business account?."

To say that I am unhappy is an understatement. Only days before this, I created skype names, invested in skype specific hardware, and purchased online numbers through the business account control panel, and purchased 100 euros of credit. Plus we planned an overseas marketing campeign based on the new number, and our exisitng skype names.
Now I find that because Skype have created a new class of user to fix this, I cannot use assign the online numbers to the skype names we have. Of course, the skype names have value, as they are know by our contacts, so we can't just change them, and as we all know, skype names don't just go away.

I guess this is all OK, since skype gave me a 2 euro voucher! angry.png

Question for Skype team
- Is it possible to make one of the existing account the owner of the business account? in that way no new account need to be created.
- If this is possible how can we do that?
Thanks

I to am very unhappy over this change that Skype has decided. I have over 40 accounts as consumer accounts as they never allowed business accounts to be created. Now I can not assign numbers to these people anymore. I wish Skype put in a feature to allow consumer accounts to be changed to business accounts and then I would switch over my 40 accounts.

This is ridiculous.

I complained about this and got no reply of that sort. I was told they are working on it, nothing more. I'm also waiting for 4 days now on a refund request. They never sent out an email warning us of this.

Can a skype rep please clear this up? This is something that should definitely have been made clear BEFORE paying money for an online number.

I've posted a complaint on my blog too because this is something potential Business Control panel customers should be aware of.

I agree this is absolute Bull Shit.
I have a business control panel I setup months ago. Then I created around 25 accounts and invited them into the Business Control Panel. Now after all that work I'm finally getting around to assigning them skype in #s. All of my skypenames are established now so I can't just create business accounts with all new skype names. Now I have to wait over 24 hours for Skype Billing to deallocate all the credits I have assigned to my invited skype accounts. Then I have to have Skype Support delete all those accounts just so I can recreate them in the business control panel. Then reassign them credits, and then assign skype in #s. So in a week I might be able to accomplish what a Skype employee with the proper system permissions could accomplish in a couple of minutes.

Did I mention this is absolute BULL SHIT!?!?!?!

Shit like this makes me realize what a joke of a company Skype is.

What I find interesting is how particularly nice people are with this issue. If your situation was carried out by a teleco no one would tolerate this. If this was an experimental open-source experiment same would go. But you have relied on this service to run your business on. My growing company is developing a world-wide presence with social networking software and we made a deliberate decision to use the web 2.0 tools as that is what we represent. We invested thousands of dollars in equipment, consulting, time, etc. to deploy the "Skype" model. We purchase online numbers, subscriptions - not many but want to pilot this first. We followed the play book and couldn't sign numbers as just like many of you. We sent off a tech support email which took quite awhile (they ask for everything) and the next day we received an auto-reply that someone from the business consulting group would get back to us. Yeah right. So thanks to this forum we were directed to Heartbeat where we saw that on July 23, 2009 Skype said they were working on it.

Skype is a wonderful idea. But no ready for business. Their support model seems to come from the same people that bring us eBay and PayPal. Widely used but support is completely absent and products are immature for business reliability.

Thanks to the forum and your willingness to help these guys out supporting a product that we are paying for. Back to the blood-sucking telcos and getting our money back for numbers we can't assign.

This is just complete bullshit. Sorry to hear that Skype is turning into another PayPal.

To think I was planning to use the Skype BCP for a campaign.
As they say on Twitter (when Russian hackers are not blocking it) #FAIL. It is not fit for purpose.

I'll take my business elsewhere. Nowadays Skype seems to all about the whims of Ebay management rather than the wishes of the Skype users.

I am Just going to try to get a refund as I tried to create some kinda business temp acct as described in this forum and it was tedious and failed. I do not spend the kind of money that I do and have with skype to not be informed about changes that affect what I have already paid for in this purchase of an online number that I cannot assign in the so called "Business Control Panel" and the skype team not clearly posting that dramatic change in that same area prior to the sale of and online number that is now nonassignable is least a dubious decision and at best an unethical business practice which if done without explanation and sound reasoning is just one more reason I am considering a transition of all my accounts and those I manage to "Google Talk" and the new "Google Voice" which will be offering a free USA phone number as well as free calls in the USA and very competitive rates to the rest of the world.
I am really tired of Arbitrary and unexplained decisions that continue to limit or in this case cripple the functionality of something that should have been getting more control and capabilities instead of less

It seems I'm in the same boat. I just set up a new Skype business account, added two members and purchased recurring unlimited subscriptions. I need the online numbers to complete my business functions, but am I to understand that there's a technical issue with assigning online numbers to members of your business account?

I just paid $60 for two online numbers which are currently unassigned and cannot be. What's my best course of action?

Thanks in advance.

This is really bad. Using Skype for Business has so far been very confusing.

Everyone said I'd be crazy to trust Skype to do anything right.

They were right.

SKYPE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? This is horrible, horrible customer service.

I'm calling my credit card company right now to initiate a chargeback and I suggest you all do the same.

Same issue here... I have 19 members in my BCP. all using their regular skype accounts. Since June 22 I can not assignnew phone numebrs unless I create this new type of user - business user... Is it a general Idea to create 2 types of users in skype? Can we get anyone from the staff ot explain it to the business community? Does anyone monitor this forum or we just wining to each other, a way of letting off steam?
