Full Version: Skype call forwarding problems

I've purchased an online Skype number for my business and when someone calls that number it forwards to my mobile phone. I then have two problems.

1. is that even though I have the call forwarding set to happen on the minimum number of rings, it still takes up to four rings to divert to the mobile, which is too long. Is there any way that I can reduce this or speed the call forwarding process up?

2. Is that when the Skype call is forwarded to my mobile it shows as a private number and not the actual Skype no. This is really inconvenient because I want to be able to answer the phone properly, knowing that it's from my business no. Any ideas?

I've tried contacting Skype support, but I haven't had any luck so far. Many thanks. James

I Agree. It takes 18 seconds of calling before my mobile starts ringing.

I'm sure this would be a real put off to clients.

the time interval before forwarding an incoming (that which is set in the client options) is only valid if the client is Online at the time of these calls

if the client is not online, then the default interval at 'Skype central' is used (and that should be approximately 4 rings or 15 seconds)

the number shown at the final destination should be the Caller ID of the original incoming call, but there are a number of reasons why it might not work reliably, some of which are beyond Skype's control

if it is not working for you, then the isssue should be reported to Customer Support, along with as much detail as possible

you should test by forwarding to alternate mobile numbers (ideally different carriers), different landlines, and different Skype names to see where you stand

I think Neil's comment:

'if the client is not online, then the default interval at 'Skype central' is used (and that should be approximately 4 rings or 15 seconds)'

says it all. This is the problem as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for this information Neil.
