Sorry, I am a bloody idiot with this stuff so I have some operating questions and I have been unable to find the quick answers by prowling the website: I am going to Mexico and want to use Skype on my iPhone to call back to a landline in the US. I understand I will have to use a WIFI connection and I'll have to buy some Skype credits. My questions:
1. Will I have to dial an "International Area Code" to call back to the US? If so, what is that code (to dial before the area code and number)?
2. What will my 'per minute' charges be? I'll be staying in Ensenada in Baja California.
3. I am pretty certain I can't get incoming non-Skype calls unless I purchase a Skype number, right?
4. I CAN contact other Skype members online (assuming they are logged in, of course), without a fee, right?

Thanks so much. Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Hello

1. Yes. +1 is the US and Canada's International call, you area code such as 206 for parts of the State of washington follows that, then the local number, i.e. 555-1212

2. About 2 cents per minute.

3. An Skype online number with a local area code for where you live is pretty handy for friends and relatives to contact you for free.

All Skype2Skype calls are free.

So how come you get to go to Ensenada?

Regards,

Bill

Wow Bill, thanks for the super-quick and informative answer!

My neighbor owns a couple of beach houses located between Rosarito Beach and Ensenada. "Free" was in my budget! yes.png

Thanks again for all of the great answers you have posted.....

How did skype work in Ensenada? Just connect to wifi, then skype, then dial number?

Thx,
James
