Hi there,
I just made a firmware update of my new one day old dualphone 3088.
Maybe it never finished. I don't know. The result: Black screen but full function.
The standard reset after more than one hour was not successful.
What to do? Any suggestions?

..Black screen but full function..

I don't have a 3088, but here are some thoughts..

1. Yes, maybe the update failed. However, I would expect the device to be smart enough to recover from a partial update. Standalone devices normally use checksums and memory switching to verify updates and avoid failures.

2. Maybe the update has set the screen brightness/contrast to a bad value, hence the black screen. Is there a menu option to change it? Obviously you'll have to guess the buttons if you can't see the screen.

3. Hardware failure. Has the screen or the LCD connector simply failed?

Also, try removing the batteries from the handset overnight. This will allow the circuits in the handset to discharge. This can sometimes cure "memory corruption" problems.

Removing the battery overnight should reset the phone. If it does not work, it is time to contact RTX or the store where you made the purchase.

From the manual:

the display is black.

•The display contrast is wrong
•Hold down power on for approximately two seconds to turn on the handset
•From the idlescreen, press menu > 555, then select your preferred contrast setting

It is not possible to change the contrast. Skype asked me now for the order details. I am now waiting for an address to send it.

You will have a long wait - I would put pressure on the manufacturer RTX also.

Dear TOm,

I have the same problem now, what was the end result. Did you got a replacement or you resolved the problem?
