Hello
We want to start testing Skype internally.
Will it work as peer to peer on the LAN without using the Internet?
I think the problem we have is that due to NAT we have one IP address for the Internet but each person in the company has a different IP address on the LAN.
So if we made Skype calls to each other would they just use the LAN and not go through our gateway then back again into the firewall?

No, needs access to the central (non-P2P) authentication services. Skype is not a pure P2P app.

I have tested Skype on a internal network. Skype is logging in to the server with your username and password using the internet but when you are calling someone on the internal network it goes directly peer to peer.

File transfers are also lightning fast on internal networks.

Skype works nicely with multiple users behind NAT!

Nope. Skype doesn't work on LAN.
It is sending all trafic out of the LAN, and than back again. It's sooooooo slow ):

There seems to be mixed messages here between posters !
Can those who say it works great confirm their Network set-up particulars, and those who say it's slow etc confirm theirs ??
That way, we might cut through to the facts.
