Hi all, I have looked through forums but have not found a thread that has helped. I installed Skype and a new Skybee phone. All went like clockwork smile.png No issues reported. My friend did the same. We can chat on Skype so that works. We can make each other's phone ring but there is no sound. The phone has a USB plug, a mike plug and a speaker plug. There is no reference to these connections in the phone manual.
First dumb question; do all 3 have to be plugged in or just the USB? Is there a windows setting(s) that has to be done? Even though it was recognised and installed fine I cannot see it anyware in the control panel hardware list.
In short I have no idea what to do next, any ideas?

Peter,

Try to use just the USB, that will work fine and then follow the instructions below.....

USB device and setting
Subject: HeadSet and Speaker Setup
Skype:
Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->USB Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

Thanks Ike,
When I go to Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->USB Device
I only get 2 choice; Realtek AC 97 Audio and Windows default device. I do not see a USB device. crying.png

Peter,

You might nog have installed the driver/software properly.
First go to Skype -> Tools -> Privacy -> Manage other programms'access to Skype. Allow SkyBee to access Skype.

If you can't find your SkyBee phone, you need to reinstall it.

Success.

Hmm, thanks again. The privacy setting showed Skybee had access. I removed using add/remove programs then reinstalled from the install CD.
All looked fine, but still only the 2 options in Skype options area; Realtek and windows default.
I got the horrible feeling that I am missing something obvious. Not helped at all with the horrible manual.
thanks again IKE

PS another dumb question, if this phone has to have the usb, mic and spkr all plugged in how do I use the add on speakers? .... sigh

Peter,

Can you give us some more details about your Operating System?
See the link "Technical Problems" in my signature.

Thanks for all your help. All working now. This Skybee device is really just a speaker and microphone in a handset. Maybe all the usb is for is some power??? ANyway it does not come up as a device. My problems were in the sound card setup. I ended up setting it as a qadrophonic system with the phone in one set of speakers and the standard speakers in the other. All seems OK, 'except for the annoying echo'!!!
I will troll the boards to see if there is something about that :roll:
thanks again
