I'm using Skype 2.0.0.72 on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 64 bit.
I cannot change my own avatar picture, if I edit my profile and select a new image nothing happens.
Besides, also the avatar of my contacts are not displayed.
I've tryed both 32 and 64 bit version of skype.
The same thing was happening also with Ubuntu 8.10, so it's not a jaunty issue.
Anyone else experiencing same problem?
Thank you.
Cheers,
Luca

Ciao Luca
ecco come risolvere il problema:
nel terminale esegui i due comandi:
sudo mkdir /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/imageformats/
sudo cp /usr/lib32/qt4/plugins/imageformats/* /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/imageformats/
a me ha risolto il problema

Thanks Peter,
I already have the directory /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/imageformats/ containing the same libs that are in /usr/lib32/qt4/plugins/imageformats/*.
I'm sure it's an issue due to the 64 bit version of ubuntu, since on 32 bit it works well.
Thank yuou in any case.
Ciao,
Luca

Ciao tutti!
I also have no avatars displaying in my skype (2.0.0.72 - from the medibuntu repos.) running on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty). Also, I cannot change my avatar... when selecting an image for my avator, after selecting the file, my avatar does not change (showing only the default skype image).

Have you prefixed
QT_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/lib32/qt4/plugins
as per
http://share.skype.com/sites/linux/2009/09...planations.html?
