It seems skype and ASUS pulled the AIGURU SV1 from their site. This 300$ videophone to use with skype came out with a big hype in December 2008. And seems now already being pulled. This issue is that I can not purchase this phone for the family members (grandparents) who would really be using this to communicate with us to see their grand child. I spend two hours talking to different people at ASUS in the US, no answer on why at this time. It does leave us with a big hole in our pockets (300$) and can not use it since nobody else can get one , and there are no other video phones for skype. Also it has an update feature so that the firmware can be kept up to date so that when skype upgrades their software the phone can still communicate with other skype users. SO far I found nobody at skype or asus that could tell me if this will still work. It is amazing that neither skype or asus has made any communications to people like me who invested in this product. If anyone has any info on this , it would be very much appreciated.

There seems to be good stock levels in the US and UK and most of Europe so I think rumors of its demise seem unfounded?

Skype seems to change its range of phones every week. Are you basing your worries on its availability in the Skype shop? I'd look elsewhere if so.
I wish the company would at least develop and provide updated drivers for the phones it's sold. My US Robotics from a year ago is pretty useless on Skype 4 because they don't sell it any more and US Robotics hasn't updated the drivers.
No-one's got back to me about it from either tech support.
