Hello,
This is a question to Skype team.
Are you going to make native Skype Client that uses WiFi/3G for making calls?
@Future owners of N97, What would you like to use, Fring or Skype Client from Skype ltd.?
Bye

Will Skype be preinstalled onto Nokia N97??
That's just what I expected.

Hello Skype guys,
what we really need is a Skype cliet for Symbian (Nokia) phones that could use the device's buit-in wi-fi. Not a client only to the N97.
The Fring (www.fring.com) option works well _if_ you're not concerned with security (you must open many firewall ports! - are they also crazy?) and this is not possible if you're a guest in a hotel abroad.
The wi-fi phones, like the Netgear, also have a big problem: they do not connect if the wi-fi has a login page.
So, we, your clients, are out of any reasonable solution.
Hope you consider changing this scenario.

Sorry for my poor English.
I always use SKYPE contact with my girlfriend because we are in different countries.
And I also tried to use FRING but really very bad call quality.
Maybe it is because there is no FRING server in my country.
I need more stability and more convenient and cheaper voip.

In December 2008 (!) it was announced that skype will come pre installed to all N97 devices. Later it was communicated skype will come via a software update. Version 2 of the N97 does not include skype.
Please skype would you enlighten us if you have given up on the real skype client for N97

Andre,
There is no announcement that skype has "Given up" so i would assume that development work is still on going which can only be a good thing as I am sure you and many other people would be complaining if it was released with bugs all over the place lol...

Look at all the literature about Skype and Nokia N97 the flagship
Scott Durchslag Chief Operating Officer is full of it!!!!
Look at his article with the big smiling face. He must have been laughing with the untrue statement. I feel conned!!
If it was true why is Skype NOT loaded on to the N97 as he states
I purchased the N97 with the belief Skype would be loaded!! Or available!! the joke was on me and others who strongly appear to be mislead
Live up to your words or retract the statement.

I also purchased the N97 only for the purpose of Skype, everything I read in June 2009 and before stated the N97 will be preloaded with skype....I purchased it as soon as it arrived in USA and what a surprise, no skype!
I kept reading that it would be available later, then it would be in 3rd qrt. or was it 4ht quarter...... well it is the latter part of November and it is still not here. I am not a huge user of skype, but use it in areas where there is no cell service, I use it from my home in the country where there is no cell service, only wifi! I thought the N97 the perfect cell and the perfect phone for wifi skype!
