I'd like to speak here about the romanian version of Skype. I really love Skype because I can get in touch with my family in Romania. We talk on webcam and is so cool. I also bought a romanian phone number from Skype and my parents are calling me from Romania in Canada (where I live now) for FREE. So you guys can imagine how cool I find Skype. The quality it's great but always is room for better.

I also want to say to you, the people from Skype, that not only the young people are using Skype but also people in mid 50's or more so words like "downloadeaza" can be replaced with "descarca" or "updateaza" cu "actualizeaza". To become a translator for Skype I need to have knowledge for software programming or just to know english and the language I want to translate Skype into?

It would be great to have a version in Romanian and more competitive call rates!!!
There are many Romanian users.

Avem o versiune in limba romana.

There is a romanian version. If you connect to Skype and then you go to Tools -> Change Language and select romanian from somewhere down the list or you can select romanian when you install Skype in your computer.

I have to agree, the Romanian translation has several problems today. It appears it has been done by someone who no longer lives in Romania and/or no longer speaks the Romanian language since years.

For example "New Friend" should be Prieten nou (not Nou prieten), "New Group" should be Grup nou (not Nou grup), Conectează-mă când Skipe porneșe" should be "Conectează-mă când pornește Skype" or better "Conectează-mă la pornirea Skype".

In Romanian language menu entries are never all capitalized (except when names are involved), so almost every menu entry should be Schimbă parola (not Schimbă Parola), Grupuri de prieteni (not Grupuri de Prieteni), Sună telefoane (not Sună Telefoane; perhaps a better translation here would be Apelează telefoane, or Apelează numere de telefon), Schimbă limba (and not Schimbă Limba), etc., etc..

Also since the physical language file structure appears to be Unicode, characters ş and ţ on all menus should be corrected to ș and ț (UI fonts always contain these glyphs since NT4.0 SP4, but of course, a real test can reveal if there is any problem at all).
