Full Version: How to completely delete a contact list ?
Skype Community > English > Windows

I would like to refresh a contact list, I mean completely deleting ALL contacts and then adding one by one.

» Deleting one by one is boring if contact list is very long.
» Deleting the local files does not solve now the list is saved on server.

Does somebody have a solution ?

Thanks.

You cannot delete the contacts list because as you said it is saved on the server, even if you delete it locally you will still get it back when you sign in to Skype again.

The only way round it if you don't have Skype/out/in is to register with a new username and start building you contact list again.

So answer is "not possible".
And creating a new account is not fair, because you have to communicate and justify your new account name to your contacts, just creating unnecessary trouble to them.

Proposed improvement: it would be real improvement to be able to select some contacts with "ctrl+clic" or "shift+clic", and delete all of them with just one delete operation.

Selecting/deleting one by one is not fun at all.

If you delete a contact from your list, it is also removed from the server-based list. So it won't come back.

Ok; so do you plan this following improvement ?

Proposed improvement:
»» ability to select several contacts with "ctrl+clic" or "shift+clic", and delete the selection with just one delete operation.

Believe me that deleting #200 contacts one by one is not fun at all !

I agree, I had to delete my contact list (over 40) one by one as I'd made a mistake with the UK dialing code.

What a chore!

Ctrl+A selects all your contacts and then just delete them ! What's the bother ? You may some time see deleted people in your list but they will disappear soon wink.png It's the same with the blocked users.
This is also a way to check how many contacts you have ctrl+a and then hold the mouse over the green handle and it will show you. But be careful not to "somehow" click it because it'll get really nasty tongueout.png

not the case from my experience... have a read of https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SCW-288

and finally, marness.swart, you can delete blocked contacts using the manner described for mass deleting normal contacts. however, the locked users you are seeing only when typing \ and not before doing so are the ones you have already deleted, hence the delete option no longer appears for these contacts. there is a bug in the skype software that displays deleted contacts... again i have documented this in https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SCW-288
