why not just use the /secondary switch that 4.0 already supports?

for v4.x, run Skype.exe as usual for for instance of Skype and sign in

if you want a second instance of v4.x to run concurrently, simply run Skype.exe again but add the /secondary switch after it -- then sign in second Skype ID

like this:

Skype.exe /secondary

for easy access to this feature for future use and to save some typing, make a shortcut that includes the additional /secondary switch in Target field

Thank you so much!

I tried in Windows XP SP3 Home Edition and it works perfectly.

Start>Run>C:\Programmi\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe /secondary

If anyone changed the install location, must change the script like the path where Skype is located.

Example:
If i installed skype to drive D:\Programmi\ the script should be like this:

D:\Programmi\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe /secondary

Enjoy Skype!

The shortcut works in xp but in vista, it convers the /secondary to \secondary and generates and error. Any ideas.

Thanks

Hi,

I couldn't add /secondary after skype.exe it says "A file name cannot contain any of the following characters \/ ? * < > ! " , please help.

thanks in advance.

1. Find skype.exe on your computer.
2. Create Shortcut (in vista it will ask you to save somewhere else like the desktop)
3. In the shortcut properties add /secondary to the target field outside the quotation marks.
4. Save and run.

Cool!
Thanks a ton for the help.

Hi Guys
I have also tried this way but it did no work for me.
I don't have admin permissions.
Anyway I copy pasted the shortcut to Skype.exe then I click on properties and added /secondary to the "start in" field (the target field is unaccesable"
Does someone have any idea?
Thanks

Hi Daniele Moscati!

Try with the old manner, write the command by your self.
Start>Run>C:\Programmi\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe /secondary
Look the answers given before by me.
If no chance to work than try to install skype to a USB Flash drive. wink.png
There you have administrative permits.
Neil
installing Skype on a USB stick does not change user rights and you do not need admin rights to run Skype

do not make a copy of the existing desktop shortcut -- create a NEW one
