I have submitted a support ticket regarding this. I have searched the forums for similar problems, without success.

My skype SN is: scoobydanb
I think the support ticket number is PA004 (although I've only ever submitted this one support ticket, so that could be any number).

I have started this thread as I believe something bad has happened to skype security, or that some third party is using skype's name in order to make erroneous charges to peoples credit cards.

I have been charged with three identical debits as follows:

02/17/2009 PURCHASE MADE ON 02/11/09 AT WWW.SKYPE.COM INTERNET GB $13.24

All on the same date.

I have asked my bank to block any further transactions from this business.

I have changed my skype account password.

There is no history of this money ever making it to my skype account, and there are no calls or uses of my skype account that I didn't make.

This leads me to believe that my account is safe, and that the skype auto-refill database has been compromised. I have disabled auto-refill in my account also.

Has anyone else any experience with this type of problem?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
I'm escalating this without waiting for the customary 4 day period in view of the potential that fraudulent activity has taken place by an unknown third party.
It may be a simple case of software malfunction but I want to make sure.

HSBC just confirmed that my CCard number has been stolen. Therefore, I think the only thing that Skype needs to worry about is the fraudulent use of their name, and whether my number was leaked from their database.

Thanks
Dan

This happened to me on September 24, 2009, so it is still a problem. The description of the fraudulent charge was "WWW.SKYPE.COM INTERNET GB" in the amount of $146.89. This amount does not show up on my Skype account, I still have my card, and no one else has access to my card or my accounts. Has Skype thought about sending a security alert to the credit card companies about this? Isn't there a way to detect that this isn't a legitimate authorized Skype charge? If I close my Skype account, will that prevent this from happening again to me? I did file a support request and am calling my bank. Is this just happening to Skype users? If so, maybe Skype should alert their customers so they can watch out for this. I'm so darn busy I almost didn't notice this! How many other people have been ripped off and may not have noticed yet?

This has just happend to me. I have 4 transactions on the same date 1st Nov 2009, 3 for $14.81 and one for $2.82. Fortunately I spotted this in my pending transactions and have called my bank, they have cancelled the card etc.
