Well the question's in the title really. I have a Skype Unlimited Country account, which means I can call any landlines in my home country which is the UK. I'm thinking about purchasing a 3 Skypephone and was wondering if the Unlimited Country account would work whilst using the Skypephone ie. can I call people on landlines without being charged?

No, because Three don't allow it. You can SkypeOut to international numbers using Skype credit or for free with a Subscription, but not to +44 numbers.

Not to hijack your thread or post off-topic, but you may want to do some searches on the Skypephone S1 and S2. There's a LOT of upset people out there cuz of the quality of these things.

If i have a unlimited country to call Hong Kong (landline + mobile). if i sign-up the plan 3 with the skype, will I be able to use that plan on my 3 mobile to call Hong Kong under my "unlimited country" plan?

I'm surprised that you say wiht a 3Skypephone I can use my SkypeOut acct, even if for calls other than the UK. I have called 3 a zillion times over this and it's pretty much a split on the answer I get - 50/50 on the yesses and the nos.

Are you dead sure? The salespeople at Skype don't seem to be sure.

You can use SkypeOut for any number in the world except for your home country.
I am from Sweden and have the Skypephone by 3 in Sweden. I also have World unlimited subscription. I can call all the countries under the World Unlimited for free except for Sweden (Sweden is included in World Unlimited). Similarly when I go to Italy, I can all numbers anywhere in the world (as per my subscription) but I cannot call to numbers in Italy (Italy too is in World Unlimited). However, this time I can call to numbers in Sweden for free, because when I travel to Italy (or any other 3-operated country); Italy becomes my home or base country.
So basically you can use Skype Out (with or without subscription) for all numbers except your home or base country.

I can only add to Zohaib replay regarding 3 in Sweden is that with certain monthly plans one can place a nearly free calls to Swedish landlines from 3 mobile (just a flag fall to pay with minutes rate being 0) so it is nearly free without using Skype here. :-) In Australia for example there is no such generous monthly plan in local 3, so it differs from place to place.

Wow Thank you very much for your confirmation mate ^^ Really appreciate that as I have been hunting for relevant replies and all in a sudden, I found your answer. It is not only CLEAR, but also VERIFIED. Noone can be fooled by this anymore. I can now make decision easily to keep my O2 number after my O2 contract ends by mid-September. I could save a lot on phone bills by using this "Unlimited country" call to Thailand thanks to this awesome feature.
