I have tried installing Skype 4 Beta 3 using the lightweight install client and the full install file. In both cases the installer will not show any progress on the progess bar and will give a constant status of "Installing Skype: may take a few minutes".
I have left the installer going for a while with no impact. I have also tried running the files as administrator and in various compatibility modes.
Thanks in advance for the help

Thank you for reporting.
This error seems to be related to some recent windows update.
We are currently investigating what has happened.
Skype 4.0 beta3 works fine on the public beta version of Windows 7 without updates.

The installation worked fine for me but when I put in my login details and Skype tries to connect it just closes instead.

Asenath83 is it happening with 3.8 or 4.0 beta 3?
There is know problem with Skype 3.8 and 64 bit Windows 7 that they do not work together too well.

I kept getting a permissions error on the prior version - and have never succeeded in getting Skype installed on my quad core windows 7 64-bit machine(clean build).
The error reads: "EOleSysError in module Skype.exe at 0008963D. Access is Denied."
even when running install in compatibility with Vista and elevated permissions.....
I would love to get Skype working again....
