I'd like to use Skype mobile on my BB 8900, does anyone know if this is possible or coming? Also, if I forward calls from my cellular to Skype voicemail, how can the be retrieved if I'm not near my PC (ie: callin from a mobile phone?)
Thanks.

Sometimes the first letter of a password will be automatically capitalised. Try entering an extra character before your password, then go back and delete it.
e.g. type:
Dpassword
and then delete the D

I´m also waiting for a Skype alternative for Blackberry.
To retrieve your voice messages from Skype voice mail, you need to have Skype To Go. You will get a local phone number tha enables you to make calls and also tells you that you have messages when you call.
Hope this helps. Regards, Richard_Beer

I would love to see Skype for Blackberry... I recently bought the Blackberry Storm 9530, and I was surprised when I found out that Skype didn't support Blackberry on their mobile software.

Well aodowdus actually iskoot offers support for skype on a blackberry storm (9530),but something strange is happin with iskoot now-i am Canadian, anyway when I first started usin iskoot the call went to Toronto,Canada which was fine with me.Now the call is directed to Russia. So what i am gettin at is that im not sure about the skype out rates,O and by the way I subscrible to Skype world plan. Anyone with more input ? feel free to reply and im not tryin to steal anyone's thread tks

When I DL iSkoot about a year ago to my 8320 I was having the same problem with signing in. Found on the iSkoot website to wait about 15 mins and then try signing in again. I don't use iSkoot that much, only when I'm @ home and want to have a hands-free wi-fi phone. iSkoot worked fine on my 8320 and it works fine on my 8900.

Hi,

very good news,
"Skype to launch service for iPhone, BlackBerry"
You can find Skype for iPhone, and from May for Blackberry!!
I think original is the best. I informed about ISkoot, IM+
and Nimbuzz too, but now I wait some week
You can read article to Reuters

have been using iSkoot for a long time. It works just perfect... its free.
Text chat is free.
You can call skype users (to their pc or however they are logged in) but it will cost you a long distance call from ur ph. The iskoot application dials a US no and then routes it to the skype user. So you will end up making a long distance call. Might not make sense if calling a US no from within US. But calling International user from within US is just a US long distance call. Which is pretty cool.
Skype users from their pc can call you. Even for this incoming call iskoot will dial a US long distance no. So receiving does not make much sense as you end up with a long distance call even to receive on ur skype id.
All in all, with no skype application available for Blackberry, this is very good alternative. I have been using it for more than a year. Works well.
I did read the news abt Skype for Blackberry coming in May 09.. until then iskoot shd be gud. But yes, I wud love to have original Skype client on my BB.

SKYPE for the BLACKBERRY!!Yes, you heard right! I just downloaded the "iskoot" utility ... basically it's "Skype for the Blackberry". Why it's not offered on the SKYPE site, I don't know ... but it works!
I use the BLACKBERRY 8350i from NEXTEL (Sprint/Nextel). It's basically a Blackberry 8330 "curve" with the radio feature added! It works "GREAT"! I got it through my FHTM business, and saved $50 on the purchase, and I got a WONDERFUL PLAN for it that covers unlimited everything except airtime (400 minutes workdays - all others FREE). I even get the TELENAV feature FREE! (turns your Blackberry into a TomTom navigation tool)
http://www.richallcorn.com/fhtm... and "YES", I use the NEXTEL radio feature! I love it!!
iSKOOT
http://www.iskoot.com You can download this from the site "to" your Blackberry. It's sends an IM message that you can "click the link" on and the download begins directly to your Blackberry.
iSkoot supports chatting, and Skype calls. It uses the existing phone system to do that portion, to provide for better call quality. (let's face it, the Internet connection on some of these services is not THAT fast/good). If you don't want to accept phone calls (incur a charge - SKYPE minutes req'd) then you can turn "that" feature off.
I use the SKYPE on my Blackberry to "chat". If I wanted to "talk" on it, I don't really need the SKYPE for that. I actually created a separate SKYPE login for my phone. It's my login ID for SKYPE, with the "-cell" added to the end. IT WORKS great!!*
*NOTE: I did this because I have a phone number and unlimited SKYPE minutes on my regular SKYPE account ... I did NOT want folks using the SKYPE to call me on my Blackberry. When I "do", I just change the login to my regular login and then my SKYPE calls come directly to my cell.
Check it out!

Iskoot chat works fine on my BB Curve, but the skype-out voice doesn't - every time I try skype-out, the number that iskoot calls has the recording "circuits are busy, hang up, try again" I have not made any calls successful yet, whether I try day or night. Is anyone else have this, and is there a solution? thanks!
lalu62
Wed Apr 8 2009, 09:21
ok, I found the solution at the iskoot page. if the problem persists, then
"Hang up and try again. If this persists, exit and restart the application."
After "Logging out" and then "Close" the Iskoot application completely, and then restarting it, and logging in, I made my first skype-in and skype-out call successfully

I have iSkoot on my Curve, and while the concept is nice, the voice quality is terrible. I'm in a good signal area too. I've actually deleted it and pay the long distance charges because the call is invariably so bad I have to hang up and call back anyway!

Mon Apr 20 2009, 16:21
I actually created a separate SKYPE ID for my Blackberry. Personally, with free long distance, I don't see a need to use SKYPE for my phone calls. I also use SKYPE for chats and video conversations with family. On my Blackberry, it's more for a SKYPE chat with my wife, should she need to get a message to me.
But as for using SKYPE on your cell? We're "not there" in bandwidth.

From what I understood it was supposed to be out May 31st 2009. I am going to wait a bit longer and see what happens. But I do wish that skype would at least let us know a new release date or if they are still working on it at least. Skype would help me a lot especially traveling internationally.

It's June 04, and there is no sign at all of any Skype for Blackberry (I am not talking about iSkoot). Would be nice if the powers-to-be at Skype would make some kind of an announcement - either to confirm or to deny.

Considering that this is part of the "Skype for Business" group, it is a little odd that they would do something as unprofessional as not communicating a new release date which deviates from the one in their press releases.
The fact is however, that they did announce the launch of a closed beta test group (I think that started around the 20th of May), and that a leaked beta version for the Storm is also doing the rounds (if you really want it I am sure you will find it). So they are definitely working on it.
I am going to sit tight until an official version for my Curve 8900 is available. In the mean time I can recommend IM+ for Skype or the IM+ all in one. It works with WiFi and the text messaging works well too.

I think the bottom line is, it'll be out and available when it's out and available. It's that simple. It's not ready and therefore, logically, not available. It'll be here soon...

For all of you in here writing about iskoot and looking for support on it - you are in the wrong place. iskoot is not designed by Skype, it's an entirely different company who has created a non-native client that allows Skype users to communicate via iskoot.
You need to direct these questions to iskoot.
Since it's not native and since Skype didn't design or support it directly, you will not find a resolution to any of your queries thru Skype.

Hello all! I am a very avid blackberry user (SPRINT/NEXTEL). I have downloaded ISKOOT for SKYPE on my 8830, 8130 pearl and the new nextel 8350i. The app works good, no cam to cam. it does use minutes, but if you have the unlimited plan with your carrier no reason to worry. the call quality is good, if signal is good. If you have WI FI then chats work all the time (in wifi areas). If you have alot of apps, ISKOOT will slow your device down, however you can download to SD card on the device and use from there. I do agree it would be NICE if SKYPE updated theBB users since they have more than missed the deadline they announced!! Hope this helps some!!
