I am using skype for business. I have given my skype number to friends, business colleagues and have also posted it in my email signature and to my website so that customers could contact us.

I have been receiving "detail requests" and invites to chat from strangers who essentially just want to "chat". They have no connection to my business and don't even know who I am or even that I am a business number.

I asked one guy this morning and he said that I had sent him an invite. My skype is permanently on "invisible" and the last person I sent an invite to was my Father! Still, I am getting such chat requests.

I cannot turn on the privacy as it only allows people in my chat list and the point of the exercise is to allow customers to contact me... But how do these strangers get my number and how do I stop it... Can I stop it? Is my number being published somewhere in a list or are these strangers randomly finding me somehow.

Any information to help me understand this would be useful.

Thanks

Look at your profile, could there be something interesting that could be matched with a Skype search, maybe it's your Skype name?

Thanks for the tip.

I went into my profile and I have removed my age, gender and name. I changed it to my company name and product line (which is what people should be looking for) and added my company logo as the image.

If this doesn't work, nothing will.

Thanks!
