I've a weird problem with my logitech usb headset.

when i start up the program and call somebody, we can talk for few seconds (not really talking but hearing and speaking for a moment) and then there is silence on both sides.

when i use my ordinary soundcard with a normal microphone everything is fine.

my normal soundcard is on /dev/dsp and the headset on /dev/dsp1

the problem seems only the occure while using skype. any other sound related programs work proper (e.g. xmms is playing songs, i can record myself via arecord on the command line and so on)

maybe it's helpful to give you my /var/log/message output, i don't really know what to do with that:

how are you using a normal soundcard and a headset on /dev/dsp1? I am trying to do it with my usb mic with skype dsp hijacker but I get this and other errors

cannot submit datapipe for urb 0, err = -38

I'm not using both on /dev/dsp1.

As i said my onboard sound is on /dev/dsp and the usb headset is on /dev/dsp1.

As far as I know you need to hijack if you want to use both devices at the same time. But that's not my purpose. I'm trying to use my headset instead of the soundcard.

By the way when we're talking about hijacking, please don't hijack that thread for your problem but just open a new thread and make way for the people wanting to help me.

Did you ever get this resolved?

I'm having the same problem.

Was it maybe related to Nvidia sound driver incompatibility?

Been searching for days, but the nvidia possibility is the only one i've been able to come up with (that, and powered USB hubs -- are you using one?).
