What is the overall cost of a call using Skype to go in New Zealand?
(I intend to travel in New Zealand and I'm looking for the right way to call home while I'm on the go).
The price consist of 3 parts. Only the third part is clear to me, but it might be only a fraction of the total cost.
1. Access call (from a landline payphone, from other landline phone, or from cellular)
2. Connection fee
3. International call rates as published at http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/callrates/

This question applies to other counties too, but I'm currently interested in NZ

Thanks,
awwashburn
In my experience, Skype to Go is not a good way to make calls from New Zealand. This is because of the local access call charge. Calling within NZ costs a lot. If there was a way you could call from a landline, and that landline was within the calling district of the access number, then that might work out ok. There are only a few access #s in NZ, and I do not live within the "free" call range for those numbers. But, if you use a cell, it doesn't matter where you are, that local # is approx. 90 cents/minute. I can call overseas cheaper by simply dialing directly from my cell. The cheapest option I have found so far from NZ to the U.S. is 30cents/minute. That is via the Skype "online #." When you want to talk to someone, text them. They can then call your online #. This number is free for them to call. It calls your computer. I have my computer set to forward calls to my cell. So I pay the forwarding fee, which is approx. 30 cents/minute. Calling in NZ is complicated and expensive. I imagine one of the worst places in the world in terms of talking on phone costs. that is why everyone texts. There are some programs that you can download onto one of the more expensive type phones (the data/web oriented type phones) that will let you made calls for pretty cheap, but the problem I ran into there was the cost of the data plans here. I think the name of one of those programs was "Fring." Good luck!!

Can't agree more!!
New Zealand telecommunication is the worst!
I do not understand why the NZ government is not doing anything about it!
