Hi,

For Gnome desktop (used as default for Fedora and some other distros) the right thing to use is

gnome-session-properties
*******************************

to have skype start after your personal login. When started, look for something like 'Programs executed at login' (third tab). There you enter your skype's location, and you're done.

At least this is what worked for me ...
