I am living in Chile and set up an online number in the United States so that my family can call in locally to reach me here.

Everytime they try to call the number they get a busy signal.

Can someone help try to troubleshoot this please.

thanks,
Rolando

Skypein Number always busy

First of all, check the following settings:

In Skype select Tools --> Options.

On the pop-up window choose Privacy tab, locate the area 'Allow SkypeIn calls from' and select the check box 'anyone'. {note: my account was already correctly configured.)

Important:

If your settings are already configured like this, please complete 2 suggested steps below.

1. On Skype client open Tools --> Options.
On the pop-up window choose Privacy tab, locate the area 'Allow SkypeIn calls from', select the check box ' my contacts ' and click the 'Save' button.

2. Wait for approximately 5 minutes and complete the procedure below:

Once again, on Skype client open Tools --> Options.
On the pop-up window choose Privacy tab, locate area 'Allow SkypeIn calls from', select the check box 'anyone ' and click the 'Save' button to refresh the configuration.

Rocketman,

Thank You. This solved my problem. I use a Mac, but the points you gave me helped me navigate through the screens and it worked.

Much Appreciated,
Rolando

Hi,

I'm from Australia and I am having a similar problem to what's mentioned above.

Sometimes my SkypeIn number is shown as 'busy' on peoples' phones, or a message "call rejected" appears on mobile phones.

Then without changing any settings, some SkypeIn calls work fine, and the system seems to be fixed.

Then the problem happens all over again... totally unpredictably.

I have tried contacting Skype support, but have received no response for days.

I tried your strategy above, but that didn't work either.

I'm really stuck!

I hope you can help, and thanks for reading smile.png

This the only other thing I can suggest.

If PC to PC and Echo123 (Skype Test Call) are ok, the problem is likely with the PSTN/Gateway providers not your setup.

The only other solution besides waiting is to:
Report each and every failed or bad quality call do not just send in 1 report keep doing it even if you are calling the same failed number each time to pstn-feedback@skype.net with your location, time of day of call and the complete phone number you were calling and of course what happened. Without this information there is not much Skype can do to fix your problem.

Thanks, Rocketman. I had the busy signal problem too but resetting the privacy options did the trick. I also logged out and logged in with every change. Figured it couldn't hurt.
