Full Version: Improved auto recharge functionality

We have now improved the way auto recharge (formerly auto credit) works within the Business Control Panel:

- Instant recharge: The member’s account is now recharged instantly, as opposed to being checked every 24 hours. No calls will be disconnected in mid-sentence due to lack of credits on the individual member’s accounts. This also means that you do not need a high buffer.

- Trigger amount: The activation trigger is set at €2/$2 – as soon as the account reaches this level it is immediately recharged with a specified amount.

- Spending limits: You can now set monthly spending limits for each member, protecting you from any unwanted surprises.

Some control panels have experienced unusual behaviour as we were switching over to the new system. In particular some members received an email related to Auto-Recharge. If you have been affected by this, we would like to apologise for any confusion caused. We also encourage you to log in and re-check your auto-recharge settings. Also, all members who had auto-credit set at an amount lower than €2/$2 will need to reactivate their auto recharge settings.

The new system is now up and running, so we hope you benefit from the improved system and find it useful for helping you manage your company’s spending on Skype Credit.

You say I don't need a high buffer. How high a buffer will you recommend?

What happens if account is down near trigger level when monthly subscription is due? If for example account is at £2 when Skype tries to take £2.99 subscription renewal will Instant recharge take care of this automaticaly?

Subscription renewal seems a grey area with several posts on the subject and the change to a new lower trigger level seems to only add another layer of complexity.

I am avoiding making chargeable calls so ensure enough credit in user account while monthly renewal goes through even though business control panel has plenty of credit. This seems a lot of hassle and not helping Skype profits....

I have the exact same question as the previous post from 9/5:
"What happens if account is down near trigger level when monthly subscription is due? If for example account is at £2 when Skype tries to take £2.99 subscription renewal will Instant recharge take care of this automaticaly?"
Can you please let us know?
Thanks.

Hi,

Subscriptions purchased through the Business Control Panel are financed directly from the Control Panel's credit, not the individual member. Therefore, the subscription costs do not need to be taken into account when setting auto recharge settings.

If a subscription was purchased by an individual member, a subscription will automatically trigger a recharge that is sufficient to pay for the subscription itself.

Kind regards,

Wilhelm

Is there a way to choose a different (higher) trigger amount? And if not, is Skype planning to allow for this option in the near future?

A lot of this crap could be avoided if Skype would quit setting restrictions on how to allocate group funds but instead would provide some real management tools that wouldn't be plain money-traps. If a customer could freely move the funds in the business account to where they were needed, then many problems could be solved by the customer, without involving Skype's personnel and without leading to the customer wasting money.

It would also help a lot if Skype would allow auto-renewal on ALL the business services, most definitely including the phone numbers. We have more than once had a phone number disconnected because of Skype's technical problems accepting the payment on time, and this time it appears to take over 3 months and more than 10 tech tickets to get that number reinstalled, still with no guarantee that it will ever be done... If Skype's management seriously believes that this kind of service is going to attract business customers, they are in for a harsh wake-up - and so are all their customers.

It is grotesque that Skype works on being able to recharge accounts within 24 hours, while leaving the problems created by the system remain unresolved for over 3 months. How would if affect Skype's business if all customers, for three months, just received the message, "the page/service you are trying to call is no longer available"? Well, that has been our "reward" so far for relying on Skype for our phone service...

I DO NOT have the auto recharge funtion set by choice and when I do want to recharge, it really annoys me that the check box for auto recharge is ticked by default. I have been caught out once by this already and was almost caught out again today when I purchased credit. This check box SHOULD NOT be set by default.

Well it would appear to me that this is a lot of nonsense. I have frequently found the auto recharge to fail. Often mid call to customers. As I am not the administrator on the company account I cannot manually recharge. This causes many problems and more than anything is profoundly annoying. I have seen another post stating that problems with the auto recharge occurring on December 1st would be resolved "in a matter of hours". It's now Decemeber 12th and and by my calculations that's quite a lot of hours.

Sort it out Skype and provide some customer service so other businesses can use your product to do the same.

I suggest you do not use auto recharge at all, and keep as little money in the account as possible.

Once your money is locked there, and there is a problem, skype customer service is completely irresponsive. Sending repeatedly you only standard emails blaiming your computers settings even when you tell them you are able to use a different account on the same computer.

The fact is the service is great when its works, but one can not trust prepaid service after being treated with disregards.

I totally agree, change that stupid setting so we have a god damn CHOICE.
I don't want to have to untick a box in order to NOT be auto-charged,how about reversing the order?.

i have been trying fruitlessly to disable the auto recharge setting on my account, after it had been set without my agreement, i agree that the default should be unchecked, and mroe importantly that even after it has been checked, should be easy to disable.
so far i have had no joy with cancelling the damned thing, with all the links at the "account settings page" seemingly leading me in circles, it is ludicrous service from skype, totally ludicrous.

does anyone know how i can get this damned thing deactivated?

Bump.
I want to see a checkbox with a label "Disable / Cancel auto-recharge". Thank you.

Am also sick and tired to see autorecharge going back to ON without my explicit consent.
Once set to OFF it should remain OFF until explicitly turned ON by user.
More than once I have turned autorecharge to OFF in my account only to find it activated again although I do pay attention to uncheck the checkbox when charging credit. This seems to me borderline to fraud.
I don't want autorecharge. Ever.

After I made my last call, to my astonishment I got an email that said my account was auto recharged. I cannot recall that I had authorized this... I am quite angry and have sent skype an email requesting a refund. I want to choose when and how much to charge myself!

Hi...
I was looking for the same thing.. Disabling auto-recharge feature! when I searched for it in skype, it directed me to this thread! bigsmile.png
I don't know if you've found it yet. If not...
In Accounts tab of main page (after signing in), click subscription settings. That should help! Thanks!

Despite the suggestion of this user, I could NOT find a DISABLE functionality ANYWHERE on my account page or elsewhere on the site. I have a support ticket in for this problem.

However, for IMMEDIATE RESULTS, go to your Paypal or credit card account and CANCEL the ability for Skype to charge your account. On PayPal, go to Account overview, then Profile, then under Financial column, click Pay bills. Click on Skype and then click 'cancel'. Skype will no longer be able to charge against Paypal.

Its great to know the improved feature on auto recharge functionality.

This may be convenient for some1, but not me!
I found that I don't want to keep using the monthly plan because I really didn't call as much as I though.
I want to disable this one but I found no way
So unpleasant to keep the date in mind or pay 6$ for the next month sadsmile.png

Today I have discovered that the autorecharge functionality has been activated on my account without my consent! They have taken 25 euros!!
This is incredible, I am very angry. I don't think this is legal.
I have opened my settings and have turned the activation to OFF.
If this happens again, I will start warning people of this on facebook, twitter and other blogs.

Hi,
I'm having my control panel set on auto recharge 10€ as soon as it drops below 10 €, keeping theoretically always enough reserve for my account that is set on autorecharge 10 € when it drops below 2 €.

I read now that this auto recharge should be instantaneous, but nevertheless my control panel has only 0.91 € for several days now, and isn't recharging.

What could I still be doing wrong ?
Regards,
Steven
