I'm having an issue playing multiple sounds. If I have Skype open I cannot play music or listen to any sort of videos in Youtube, but if I start listening to YouTube videos I can't initiate a Skype chat.

I'm using ALSA drivers and I made sure Skype is using ALSA drivers, and I've followed the guide for installing the ALSA-OSS package. Any ideas?

Can you give detailed information for you're distribution, run in a terminal lspci , lsmod and paste what it says. Also what X11 manager do you use ? Gnome/KDE etc ...

Usually you should compile you're kernel only with ALSA modules. If you say "YES" on the required ALSA stuff, the multiple sound will never work. So please see also if you have "M" on the ALSA stuff in the kernel.

Can you please provide more informations for example which distributions do you use?
